its a law that lowered trucks can not have Bad ass sounding exhausts, when you put the 2/3 on you must cut out the magnaflow and put stock back in. Lowered trucks are not mean, they are gay, and are the nerds in the truck world, lowered nerds having bad ass exhausts is like a human nerd having a pair of cool sunglasses, They just dont go together.

From Joe cool himself..........if that ain't the pot callin' the kettle black.

JK is actually hooking me up nice on his old 2/3... springs and keys... the keys lower the front end and the drop springs drop the rear end. This is about the cheapest way a person can lower their vehicle. Well i suppose you could cut the rear springs yourself and then just buy keys.

I would prefer to get spendles, 4 new shocks, extenders, and i suppose some helper bags would be nice too although that gets pretty pricey.

you got a gear puller? I am still at a loss as to where i am going to get one of these to install the keys

$40 7 ton from Sears, that's what I did. I gave mine to my brother in law for assisting on the drop when we did it. I may be able to get it from him if I can get with him before he leaves. He's a pit mechanic for a porsche racing team and he leaved Friday for like a month. He just moved and I don't know if he has his tools out and handy. Let me know if you can't get a hold of one and I'll try and hit him up. When I did my drop Autozone said they did not rent tools anymore and I went to AZ rentals and they said they did not have pullers but I think the guy I talked to was an idiot. None the less I ended up buying one. Checker might still rent tools and in that case you could rent the "special torsion key unloader". The drop will be cake, it should take you an hour or two tops.........

No doubt, that's why I had no problem giving it to my brother in law, he wanted it and I figured I'd never use it again. After the epic ball joint battle we went through changing out the spindles I thought it was the least I could do. Oh, BTW, my alignment was $75 after the drop so it's not that bad..........

I have a buddy who is a service writer at Lund Cadillac, im going to be bringing my truck to him with my warranty paperwork and he is going to fix a few "warranty" issues for me... I need my entire front suspension re-done, guage cluster, and possible manifold leak anyway so he is going to tack on some extra work and call it a bad AC pump or something... Im hoping he can throw in the allignment

I did my keys a year ago without a puller.. I live in the mid-west where rust is normal. I just sprayed it with some lube and waited a day. You can even use a c-clamp with the piviot ball removed to make it eaiser to remove the bolt.

I'm from Ohio, so I'm no stranger to rust - but rust isn't the issue. The issue is the huge amount of spring pressure tied up in the torsion bars. Sure, you can use a C-clamp, but I have read about people who have gotten their hands totaled pretty bad when the clamp slips and the torsion bar unloads into their arm. I'm not saying it's a guarenteed injury (you pulled it off without incident, obviously). I'm just saying that unless you absolutely have no other means of doing it, rent or buy a 7-ton gear puller and do it the right way.

Hell, there are usually enough people interested in doing this mod that we could probably do a "pass around" program through the forum. One person buys the puller, then a member who needs it could pay $5 to the owner to rent it out for a week or whatever. The owner pays the shipping to you, you pay the shipping back. Or something like that. Over at bladeforums.com, they have people pass knives around all the time, some of which are EXTREMELY valuable. The rules are pretty strict for the passarounds, but they rarely ever have issues. The moderators have to be involved though - if someone tries to make off with one of the items, their name, address and personal contact info gets posted on the forum for the world to see.

We could probably implement something like that here with specialty tools that most of us would usually rent. I'd be happy to talk to Shaggy and look into getting something like that set up if enough people were interested...
