@Lancecc1 This is definitely the way to upgrade. Great plan and you're right--I'm surprised no one else thought of this.
How long did the install take?
Where did you mount the remote level control knob?
I have a Yukon XL Denali. Besides dealing with ANC would there be any other differences you can think of? The enclosure looks to be compatible with the ESV Esky, so I assume it would fit into the XL as well.

The whole thing took maybe 3 hours max. The instructions that I used from JL were key in knowing what panels had to come off and in what order. They're extremely good in leading you. I also found a video (link below) that was extremely helpful when it came to tapping into the correct wires to get the hi/low signal. I probably could have done it faster if I wasn't worried about breaking off clips on the panels. Get yourself a harness to eliminate the ANC issues like in the YouTube video that's on page 1 of this thread. Bass boost knob is mounted under the steering wheel next to the courtesy light. I was going for incognito, but to still be able to get to it if I wanted to make minor adjustments.

This is the video I used to figure how to run the power through the firewall (see 9:20 mark in the video). The video also shows that there's also an open lug in the front passenger side fuse box that I used for the remote on/off (see the 7:20 mark). It's for a Silverado, but the configuration is exactly the same.

With regard to it fitting on the XL, that's one that I can't tell you. This box is designed to fit over the wheel well and with there being more real estate between the wheel and the rear of the truck, I really don't know. Here's the link to to the AKG site that's specific to the Escalade (https://www.akg.com/ForCadillac.html). I'd say you have two choices:

1) call them and confirm this configuration is the same for the Escalade ESV. I wouldn't tell them that you have a Denali, as they're going to tell you that it won't work.

2) pull off the inside rear quarter panel and have a look. You might even be able to get away with pulling the cover off of the fuse/jack box and sticking your phone in there to take a picture or two.

If it helps, snap a few pics in there and DM me. My guess is that it's going to be the same as the standard vehicle, but with more space. I can't imagine GM completely reworking how the amp is fastened to the truck (although, I wouldn't put it past them). Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

Lance thanks so much for all the details. I'm going to pull the plug for the Yukon and give it a shot. I still need to order all the other components but this is a start.

You could try the more expensive version. The only difference see is this goes with the vehicles that have the roof speaker.

FYI the JL 10TW3-D4 does not fit into the esky stock box unless you are stubborn and used to making bad decisions like I am.

The cutout diameter is 9 1/8" and the maximum size of the bezel is 11". The JL exceeds both of those dimensions but I do own a router and Dremel.

The mounting surface isn't perfectly flat either so it would be best to choose a sub that has even mounting points - unlike the JL which only effectively has four. I supplemented sealing and securing with RTV.




That's pretty big box, probably larger than the JL calls for but I'm of the opinion that most subs speck smaller volume boxes than ideal for marketing purposes...

Also, my vehicle amplifier was mounted with 3 M10's and one plastic push on clip which created a massive resonate vibration so be sure everything in that area is bolted down and secured properly.

I recently did the JL Audio Stealthbox with 1 JL Audio XD300/1 amp for the 21 Yukon Denali. What a day and night difference. I had it done by a professional stereo shop. Had a JL Audio line output converter installed to tie everything in perfectly. Amp was mounted on the Stealthbox and all hidden. See pictures attached.
