My key fob is falling apart. Do these have to be dealer programmed or can I buy one wherever and program it inside the car? It seems I remember
I had to take it to the dealer the last time.
Thanks.. Gary

If fob is working ok, you can just buy case online and switch internals.
That would be perfect. The fob works fine and the board is apparenrly pretty tough, it has been on the ground quite a few times. I will see if I can buy a case.
Thank you
Gary

check out ajt design, I forgot you would have to change to the boostautoparts fob first, then ajt.

Or, you could go to a local locksmith, and for about $75 and 15 minutes of time, you would get a brand new GM fob and have it programmed to your truck.

I thought I saw in my readings, that the process is easier and faster if you have one of the original fobs still functioning in the system (still programmed in the BCM). So, if you get new ones... Don't be so quick to toss the old one in the trash. You may find yourself dumpster diving.
