Happy Thanksgiving all. Wishing all enjoy this time with family and friends.

Getting closer - The engine is installed. This install was more difficult then the last install I did. I think part of the reason was that my jack holding the transmission in place when I removed it settled a bit so transmission was not on the current position. Neither here or there, the engine is now in place. Time for football, family and great food. Smoking a turkey this year.

Between family time, My son in-law and I got a little further with the install:
  • Installed 8 Bell Housing to Engine Bolts
  • Tightened transmission support nut
  • Installed fuel line support bracket
  • Installed transmission dipstick bracket
  • Installed engine mount bolts
  • Measured the flex plate and torque converter clearance and determined a spacer is required with this new torque converter
  • Installed and torqued three flywheel to torque converter bolts along with required spacer washers
  • Installed flex plate locking tool
  • Installed harmonic balancer
  • Torqued harmonic balancer bolt
  • Installed grounding wire to engine driver side (behind engine – 13 mm bolt, 2 wires – see picture)
  • Installed grounding wire to engine passenger side (top aft – 13 mm bolt – see picture)
  • Installed camshaft position sensor and connected harness
  • Connected crankshaft position harness
  • Connected oil level sensor harness
  • Installed driver side transmission inspection cover
  • Installed starter along with passenger side inspection cover
  • Connected starter wires
  • Installed both drivers side and passenger exhaust manifolds11 ft/lbs then 15-18 ft/lbs and connected exhaust system
  • Connected exhaust system to manifolds
I will tell you that installing the spacer washers (one for each bolt) for the torque converter was a PITA due to the lack of hand space and a decent view, but we got it done. The rest of the install can be completed easily without the need for an assistant. Getting closer.

Today was a day of rest after the holiday visit. All left Saturday and today and back home safely. But I did get a few things completed:

- Connected a/c compressor to engine
- Installed wire bracket passenger side under engine/under a/c compressor
- Installed front wire bracket under engine
- Put old engine on engine stand
- Finished my transmission cooling/cooler lines

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving.
