it flutters and i noticed it actually makes a noise from be hind the dash, its constantly vibrating i guess i would call it. kind of annoying any clue of what it could be?

its not bouncing far just stays in one spot but moves back and forth maybe a mm or 2mm very fast and i can hear something behind the cluster making a noise

its only when the truck is running, when the key is just forward its not doing it

yea your fuel sending unit is building up on dirt and such, time for either a new sending unit or a new fuel pump. did my pump today and took care of the problem.

Sending unit and pump(<-obviously) are in the tank. There basically paired up. So, if your replacing one, dont cheap out and leave the fuel pump old. Just replace it. Chances are there both getting bad. Especially if you have a whining coming from the rear. Thats the sound of death for these trucks. Oh, and make sure if you do it to replace the fuel filter also, most auto stores WILL NOT warranty a pump if you didnt replace the filter at time of install.

Could also be:
  • bad stepper motor in the gauge/dash
  • bad ground
