Check for excessive play especially where they connect. If it was me I'd replace them if it hasn't been done lately honestly. If you're in there already do it so you don't have to rip it apart again.

Nope, maybe a lil bit stiffer but if your replacing stock shocks with 5100s then it will be a better ride than stock

I really want my stock Nivomat shocks back for the rear is there an adptor out there on the market?

Right!! I still have mine. I love the load leveling feature when towing our boats. I think you can uses them with rear shock extensions
