the slims will limit only a small percentage on Xmax, but when a smal upgrade, no need to have an 8" with more xmax, when a 10" slim mount has more Sd. I'd take more cone area.

Slim woofers have a very respectable place in car audio, as we sometimes have limited depth.

Why not do an 8" and clear up any worries about a sufficient box size. This would add enough to the system if done right. You could port that no problem plus you won't have to worry about mounting depths and junk. Those low profile subs are nice but limit performance of the driver and all give a sub par sound. I work with car audio for a living if it helps you appreciate my .02 cents anymore.

That's not a bad idea, but the Bose 8 is still working fine, so I don't want to fix something that isn't broken. I'lll definitely do that once the factoey 8 takes a dump. I appreciate the idea though, thanks!
