Just thought of a few more "perdicaments" i'm in. after removing the rear bumper moulding, I found that the step pads actually have a lip that fits over them... now that they are gone, the pad kind of hangs, I may just cut it to fit, but i'm worried that the cut will look... ******. do they make replacement pads for smoothie rear bumpers (without impact strip)? checked the LMC catalog but it looks like they only sell the entire bumper setup.

Also, there seems to be a small leak from the gasket at the base of the brake fluid reservoir (had just had a brake job before purchase) I can't seem to find a part number for it, and a few people i've asked have told me to just replace the whole thing, or buy a rebuild kit? I dont really want to go through all of that just for a worn gasket, but i will if i have to

so you just grinded out the rust and stuffed it with filler? the rust will be back with a vengeance soon....

cleaned away the rust, and used ospho rust treatment generously. I stuffed nothing, i used fiberglass bondo and a mesh screen to create a solid wall and filled in the low spots with bondo. I know It's not a permanent fix, but it will last a while. I dont have access to a welder, nor do i know how to use one. The body shop was going to do the same exact thing, if they had cut the rust out and used a patch panel, they would have had to cut farther up the fender and then I would be dealing with a paint job that would have to be blended into the existing one... on black
This way it is all hidden under the body line, which is being bed lined.

bed Lining

got the bumpers back on, honestly The bed lining looks really good from 5-10 foot away, and i'm not complaining... but the guy that did it seemed like he was rushing if you look closely you can see that he went up over the body line *i specifically asked him to go below* and in some spots it may have been put on too thick because it looks wet still. I guess that's what i get for shopping around and going with the lowest price. The bumpers, on the other hand came out amazing. he warrantied the rockers for life, but wouldn't warranty the bumpers, he was actually not going to do them at first because they were chrome, but i had already taken them off, scuffed them, done the body work, primed them, and left the truck at the shop. They definately dont feel like they're going to peel or chip off... *already had this problem once when i tried to used the spray on liner from duplicolor*






HID's from ddm and cold air are on the way, just have to track down a small oil leak... I thought it was brake fluid ^^ but turns out it just hadn't been cleaned after they did the brake job. Now I'm seeing small spots start to pool up near the front driver's side in front of the wheel. I'll take pictures of everything this weekend, maybe someone else has had the same problem and can help me out.

i would have sandblasted the chrome bumpers personally. then top coated them with primer/liner

after i tried the spray on stuff from duplicolor, i would agree 100% didnt stick at all... although it dried to a consistency of plastidip, which is supposed to peel. I'm sure I'll figure out whether or not it was good enough when I drive it up the alcan. not familiar with sandblasting, do i have to have a device to shoot the sand?

yes youd need a compressor and a sand blaster..paint doesnt stick to chrome really...i would have at min sanded it with 80 grit and then sprayed it with an etch primer to try and get the paint to stick to it

Ended up just going with dual super tens out the rear, found the leak, it wasn't oil or trans fluid, just power steering, replaced the hose *phew*
Did install a Volant cold air intake and new bull bar... The intake was really difficult for me =S hardest mod so far lol. and the air box looks good... but it interferes with the hood and props the passenger side up a little bit. not cool. Should have listened to everyone and gone with K&N

Hey what's up just looking to get some input on whether or not I should buy this 97 2 door 4×4 Tahoe 6.5L Turbo Diesel. It has no barn doors but doesn't really matter. I heard that only 200 of these were made in 97. This thing runs great and is bone stock. I don't have much experience with diesel motors but have always wanted to buy one because of the rarity of them. 200k miles LT model. Friend of mine only wants 3k for it. Is this worth considering? If I decided to buy it, and sell it what could I get for it? Or is this something that I should keep?
