hey guys new tahoe owner here. ive looked through this forum before as a guest as i tried to learn more about tahoes. these trucks are so damn beautiful. I got an older 04 LT model, first car/first tahoe/first suv. couldnt afford much newer but honestly im content with the truck regardless of how old it is lol i got a couple newbie questions if someone would be so kind to steer me in the right direction.

1) whats are some good places to buy decals, and place them on the truck? is there a sticker etiquette in the tahoe world? back window panel, side window panel? etc

2) anyone hook up a CB radio in a same year model? make a difference if the antenna is in the front or the back?

3) might be a dumb question, but are there preffered brands or auto part chains to get tinting done on tahoes? quality tinting is what im asking for, not the cheapest not the craziest. if its more of a "depends on the shop installing it" type of deal is there a place i can find reviews or whatnot?

4) some 4x4 accessories sites that tend to have good tahoe stuff? or tahoe compatible stuff?

5) truck tires? middle of the road anyone can recommend?

granted ill be doing this over time little by little but im always looking to learn and do research from those who have experienced and know what im talking about. Thanks in advance.

1) A friend of mine makes decals. Not sure what specifically you're looking for but he's a graphic designer, he'll put together about anything http://www.cngraphix.com

2) My understanding is CB is more or less lime of sight. The higher you can place the antenna the better

3) I'm a fan of llumar or 3m tints. As to installers, I like to find the small ma and pa shops. You could also go go a place that tints higher end vehicles, they tend to have better trained technicians. Don't want to cut into a door seal on a 100k+ car LOL

4) what all are you looking for? Lighting? Armor? Bumpers? Lift kits? Driveline? I'm not sure myself but knowing what you're looking for will help other members direct you in where to look

5) I'm not sure what you mean? "LT" designation tires? What's your budget? What do you need out of the tire? (Size. Traction, road noise, off-road/mud, etc)

Not any specific place to put decals but I put all mine on the back window. I haven't gotten tinting done and I'd like to know where people get there's done also. And a good place to get 4x4 stuff would be CustomWheelOffsets.com, they have just about everything, wheels, tires, light bars, headlights and taillights, bumpers, grilles, train horns, lift kits and a lot more. Plus almost everything is free shipping and they have really good prices

hey thanks for the replies. By LT i meant i got a 2004 chevy tahoe LT trim. Im not looking to lift right now, but would like to put offroad lights and such soon. Tires i want something thats going to help me not stay stuck in the snow lol ive heard truck tires are good to have on a 4x4 truck will add to its power. dont know how true that is. I drive mostly in the city, but eventually i want to do some light camping, light off road driving to campsites.

i looked it up anything on the back window in NYC is a no-no, i just stuck to the side panel for now. thanks for the site im gonna book mark it. they got some nice stuff.

heres another question:

assume your truck has the stock brakes, struts and shocks on it. a 2004 tahoe. What would you guys reccomend to be the next level upgrade of such things?

I have the stock brakes and autoride suspension. I'd recommend upgrading the suspension but my brakes have never had an issue. When you go with tint it's usually "you get what you pay for." Cheap tint will turn purple, bubble, and peel away, and a cheap installer will leave dirt or bubbles under the film. As for the CB, people have done it here, just search the forum. If I were going to do it i'd go with a splitter and use the stock antenna or replace the stock antenna with a firestik and use a splitter. I don't like multiple antennas but that's just me. For stickers, put them wherever you please. I have a sticker just above the wiper on my rear glass. Seen them everywhere.

Unless you're going to lift it l you won't need to shocks. The brakes are fine just make sure you replace them when they get low like any other vehicle. If you're looking for tires just for light off-roading and snow then I would get an A/T tire (stands for all-terrain). They last about 60k miles if you rotate them and take care of them. Good A/T tires would be something like toyo open country A/T or nitto terra grappler

what suspension would you suggest? and thanks for the response :)

how do you know if the brakes are in need of replacing or low? i know its a dumb question but up to this point ive only driven cars, never had one of my own not really sure what to look for unless its painfully obvious. and what would you suggest replacing stock brakes with? and i will look into the tires. whats usually the best places to get the best price on such tires?

The place I get my tires from is the website I told you about earlier, and if you hear the high pitch squeaking noise when you hit the brakes then you know you need to replace them. And if you don't know how to replace them then go to your local mechanic, but do not take them to jiffy lube they don't know anything they just hire anyone. And you just get new brake pads, nothing special, idk if your local shop can get the pads for you cause I do them myself but if you need to buy the pads before you take it to the shop to get them done just go to a store like advance auto parts and tell them what you want and they'll ask the year make model and everything then get them for you.
