Problems you run into with the ford Modular power plants and Lincoln Creative engineering.
1. Plastic or nylon chain guides break and allow the chain to jump and get caught on the guide mounting studs.
2.Spark plugs threads in the head strip. Not cheap to have fixed but they have come up with a decent fix that requires drilling them out and sleaving them or some crap. Kinda makes you wanna puke if you do your own servicing because you don't want to touch it. 3. If it's variable valve timing those cam phasers were a problem at first. Heard rumbling about some bad batches that lasted a whole 10K to 15K miles.
4.The biggest problem with them is the Air ride suspension. Most in that year range run bags on all 4 corners if I remember correct. The bags go bad, lines go bad, at least 100 bucks a bag and that was some guy I found that could give them to me at his cost. Not even sure it was legit since no one can find him anymore lol.

I personally have been thinking about trying to find a Denali in that same year range and getting rid of the aging tahoe.

Thanks for the info.....as far as the air rides go in the last 14 months my father had to replace two air pumps in his 05 tahoe. Mind you the 2nd one went less then 24 hours before he sold it to my cousin. Yes 650 bucks the day before transferring ownership.

A guy at work purchased a 04 Escalade about 6 months ago with 75K on the clock, his rear was sitting a bit low and of course even lower with 2 people in the back seat. His guy wanted 1500.00 to fix it. The mechanic wound up adding some type of "air bags" to bring it back to the original height for 200 bucks. Not exactly the rite thing to do but hey its not my truck.....

Is this a common occurance with these OBS? Or just coincidental??

It seems anything with air ride is going to need parts eventually just as anything else but now days it seems half the springs need to be reinforced as well. I have to run a helper spring in my 98 Tahoe when towing just to keep the damn thing level enough to not lock the front tires up in the wet under normal braking. It does not surprise me at all. These Tahoe' Escalades, Navigators and Yukon's are so M/F expensive and yet like the 07 to present GM models the freakin Dashes crack after only a couple of years in the sun. My 97 Camaro sat out side for 10 years and the vinyl part of the dash is in great shape while the stupid plastic forward part is in a thousand pieces yet every manufacture just keeps on using plastic. There is a point right now where I'm thinking do I really want to pay this much for something to fall apart on me? I may just go back to a truck lol.
