As the title says, i replaced both u joints with no real issues. they came out not to bad.
I put in the new, coat of paint on the driveshaft. The only question i have is : in my experience the yoke will have basically a tab on both sides that centers the u joint cups. my tahoe didnt seem to have them. Im hoping the vibration is just the u joint is slightly off center.

* edit. I did just read an article about making sure the joints were phased correctly. I know for certain i didnt pay attention to that. But the article referenced high speed applications. Could it be that big a deal in a passenger vehicle?

U joint phasing is built into the shaft, you cant change it. But how you took the front slip yoke off and reinstalled it can effect balance. On my wifes suv, it has a rear bolt on block also. I put it on 180 off (can only go on two ways) and her truck picked up a vibration. Took it back off, flipped it and reinstalled the joint and it went away. Not fun i know to have to redo it but mark it next time, i know i will from now on!!

thanks for the tip. i flipped it 180 and put the clips in the cups that are held in with straps. ran it up to about 90 this morning. seems way way better if not corrected entirely.
