More Progress on the mod list....as some of you might have read i was doing a backup camera and monitor over in the square opening where the TC button is on ours, some have the little cubby, some older ones have the onstar buttons there, etc.
I got the monitor off ebay. its a 3.5 inch monitor for 35 bucks.

it came with a mount that i dont need (but it fits the fitting on our digital camera so its a mini tripod for smooth surfaces haha)
anyway, the camera is an infrared chinese ebay item...16 bucks shipped. they are a dime a dozen on ebay so im not gonna link it.
camera is mounted in the same place alot of guys on here have posted...between the lift gate and bumper....i can see the top of the trailer hitch ball when its in...so it'll work great for hooking up to the boat.
sorry for the crappy pics. again, cell phone pic. but u get the idea.
trimmed the top plastic on the bumper a bit to make it fit, i wanted it bolted to the truck and not sticking out too far...this way it sits flush with the opening when the lift gate it opened. didnt want anyone to bang it with a stroller or whatnot.
ok, so the monitor...
the TC button i just popped it out and moved it to the glove box. wires are long enough to reroute and just double sided taped it to the smaller compartment on the left...same as on cubbycam's website...
this is cubby cam's pic
for the monitor, i took the remaining plastic thing that filled the hole. i cut it back the same thickness as the monitor and after some trial fitting, i got it right. i mocked it up with hot glue so i could move it around. man i got tired of mounting it and putting that bezel back in and taking it off. but it was worth it. i used JB weld quick to attach the monitor to the trimmed down insert that had the metal clips and snapped into place. made for a nice fit.
first couple pics are the OE insert attached to the monitor.
and here's the image...notice the monitor has the lines with 3 2 1 on it. its in meters but no biggie. still gives u an idea of how far things are. i couldnt have cared less if it had them but it does.
oh and PS, tapping into the lt green wire in the A pillar works great but it does have power even when the ignition is not on when the approach lights come on when u unlock. to prevent the monitor from coming on in that situation, i used a relay and ran it off an ignition source and triggered it with the wire tapped into the lt green wire. works like a charm.

well there are more options for the 07s as far as a factory style one...those of us pre 07s knda have to make our own.
the one in my tundra is invaluable in backing up to the boat trailer, since its lifted its hard to see back there. the yukon, i dont know. havent tried yet. but figured i'd rather have one than not. and for about 50 bucks, why not. gonna wake the boat up this afternoon anyway so i might get a chance to tow it with the yukon to see how it does.

latest project.....
the DVD player works great...but the built in speakers got irritating...they are near your ear when you are sitting in the front seats and its flipped down and turned on....so i fixed it for free.
it has an aux output like most things in the AV world.
i wanted to put some speakers back there someplace but didnt know what to run them off of until i had a brain storm. computer speakers. so i took an old set of USB powered speakers and took them apart...
for the speakers themselves, i took the rear door panels off, removed the grilles, found the open area below the OE speaker that would allow room for the little speaker and clear the window motor, etc and cut the hole. I JB welded the speaker to the door panel and reinstalled the speaker grille....
here's it put together...u have to look really hard to see the extra speaker in there...cant even see it unless u get down there and look for it..nicely hidden behind OEM speaker grilles...
here's the speaker JB welded to the door panel..
and the rest of the "guts" of the speaker really was just the circuit board with whatever amplifier it has and a volume knob. i drilled a small hole to the left of the OE 12volt outlet on the back of the console and the entire circuit board mounts with just the nut on the volume knob. tons of room in there for it. the volume knob is only used to adjust it to sound right, the actual volume is still adjustable via the remote on the DVD player..kinda like hooking a cable box up to a TV and getting them set just right...
anywya, here's the vol knob....
the USB cord was connected to a USB cigarette outlet adapter i got from walmart a while back..couple of bucks...i just hard wired it to the same power source for the DVD player....
all in all, completely invisible exept for the small volume knob...and when playing a movie, just turn the RSE on so it cuts the rear speakers off and it sounds amazing..we all know some of these computer speakers can put out some good sound and volume...no complaints at all. def worth the time it took (running the wires through the OE door boots sucked though)
anywya, in case anyone else faces the issue of wanting external speakers on an aftermarket DVD player or something...this was certainly a viable option..

...and with these little speakers all the way down in the door panels you can hear them fine when playing a movie? Even with the road/exhaust noise?

yeah they actually sound really good. just imagine how loud your PC speakers will go.... and the DVD player has a surround sound setting and somehow it works with the two speakers to give a relatively decent sound field...we usually have them about half or less volume and its plenty loud for the movie...might turn it up a bit if someone was in the third row watching but no real reason to have it up all the way...the exhaust doesnt have alot of drone so thats helpful too...

Awesome man. I need to remember this thread for when we actually buy our DVD player for the Burb so that I can do something similar to this 
I'll snap numerous much more pics in only a tiny bit. and yes, 10.99 for two strips. And whats amusing is i only utilized about 1/3 belonging to the length so u may can uncover some much less pricey if u get shorter.... quite easy mod.... i'll update right here with some pics. Glad ya'll like it as well.
