A few weeks ago I tried non ethanol gas, 90 octane rating. It seemed to get better mpg than the regular stuff but I was wondering if anyone uses this on the regular and what kind of benefits they are seeing.

Thanks
D.

I run non-ethanol 87 in my hoe and it seems to make the tank last longer than when i use the 10% ethanol gas, could just be coincidence though.

My gas mileage sucks when I run E85. It is better when I run regular gas, so your observation of non-ethanol gas resulting in higher MPG is probably correct.

Non-ethanol fuel is only in a few places around here. I fill up with 91 ethanol free up north and see a 2-3 MPG gain.

I see about 10% decrease in fuel economy when using E10. I see about a 25% decrease when using E85. I try to run 87 without ethanol as much as possible particularly if the price is the same as E10

Ethanol is for emissions, it does nothing but hurt performance and mileage. You can run E85 and tune it for power, but it takes so much more fuel to get the same results with 100% gas. it has less BTU's and a slower flame path.

While we're on the topic of ethanol, I had heard that E85 can ruin your fuel system from prolonged use. Any truth to that?

if it was designed for ethanol use, it should be fine. But if your putting it in a vehicle that wasn't designed for it, it can rot fuel lines and anything rubber it touches.

It takes something like 1.4 gallons of ethanol to equal 1 gallon of gas. I know here the 93 octane premium at shell has 10% ethanol.
