{I posted lately as YD2007, and found my original Name (GreenDen07).}
2007 Yukon Denali, 170,000 mi, 2nd owner, bought in Spring of 2011.
Had the O-ring replaced after Thanksgiving, and pressure improved from 5 (idle) /25 (cruise), to 15 (idle) / 40 (cruise). Had a complete split. I've read here some were in 3 pieces, some crumbled a little.
QUESTION: do these go bad with AGE, or MILEAGE ?
On Jan 6, wife says engine is making noise...she wasn't kidding. Very loud CLICK-CLICK-CLICK..., faster with faster RPM's, and oil pressure is higher now ! ...20 (idle) / 50 (cruise). Mechanic says without actually taking off oil pan and looking for actual noise source, that I need a new engine. He may be right - it sounds terrible, and doesn't get much quieter when warmed up.
Dealer friend has for sale, for a good price, a 2007 Yukon XL, 88,000 mi (and a lot less features, and no warranty). But I'm concerned about the oil pressure / o-ring issue, and hence my question above: is age or mileage the key in these going bad? He also said he could put in a GMC re-man engine in our vehicle for X$$$, 3 yr/100K warranty - may go with this.
Also, our Yukon had rear main seal leak at 165,000 mi, and will the "lower-mileage" 2007 start leaking around 150,000+ also? quite likely I'd guess. Another reason to put in reman engine in our vehicle. I may also have dealer take their best guess as to the cause of the CLICKing.
