Hat, thick socks, long johns, sweat shirt, down jacket and gloves.. You should be ok. It could also be 60 degrees. That time of year is a crap shoot.
I remember a Raiders game here at -10..

We might actually have our vehicle by then. Only a 45 week wait courtesy of GM.

Well I'm in So Cal. We don't get much snow here. Lol.

My current 2011 Yukon XL Denali is AWD. I've always felt it did not drive as well as a 2wd.

My last few Suburbans were 4wd. I drove my brothers 2wd Suburban and it felt much smoother.

Is this in my head or is the 2wd a better ride?

You southerners have no idea what 4x necessity is.:)
Well when it snows here, we can get it by the feet, and it stays for months.
4x is a must, especially when towing snowmobiles. Check out the first snowfall of last year. Note the snow banks on the road shoulder.

Lol, well, I have some cousins who are farmers in Kentucky who would probably disagree with you but I'm not a Southerner. I just spent 4 years getting a degree at Vanderbilt. I live in Oregon and spend all winter up in the Cascades skiing. My Suburban wears studs all winter.

In any event, that's a big sled, your wife must know what she's doing!

Can someone help a part time lurker out here? I've been eyeing the new Tahoe for over a year. Wasn't really in a position to buy one until wife's car was totaled yesterday. (Nobody seriously hurt and she was not at fault - other driver ran red light and hit her)

Anyway I am not totally up to speed on differences between 2015 and 2015i. I understand the 8 speed and 4GLTE. What about the rest of the powertrain? What else. I'll try to read all 46 pages this afternoon. I know the owner of the dealer fairly well and he set us up for the weekend with a demo 2015 LT (2400 miles - I think he was personally driving it) with the tow package that has the 2 speed differential. (Heavy duty tow may be what it is called) MSRP = $62K. I could buy at a decent discount Monday.

I have a '05 Avalanche Z71 that I will drive a few more years before the new Tahoe will become mine as then I'll take over the Tahoe and she will "upgrade". Point being I plan to keep 10+ years. I can buy now or can wait.

I'll be working on reading this thread complete, but any quick insight will be appreciated.

First of all, I'm glad your wife is okay. You should remember that for the time being the only vehicles coming with the eight speed transmission are the Yukon Denali. Or, more specifically, the vehicles with the 6.2 L engines. We expect the 5.3 L engines to receive the eight speed transmission in the next model year or two. It sounds as though you need a vehicle before then. For someone purchasing a Tahoe the difference between the 2015 and the 2015i boils down to the availability of the 4G LTE OnStar and inductive cell phone charging in the dashboard. There are also some differences in how the various packages are named.

Z06 isn't in production yet ;) Its the regular cars. There are a BUNCH of tests dealers have to do before delivery now to see if they have issues including going WOT in reverse with the brakes applied...
