Good Lord!!! LOL y’all don’t hold no punches! What’s up y’all, yeah texting too fast at work between meetings. Sheesh have some patience with a guy lol. What a welcome! I like this already. I’m not that deep on knowing all the info but it’s a 2002 Tahoe LS, 5.3 liter. That flex, was supposed to be for flex fuel. The oil pressure gauge while driving is at 40 psi. However when I stop, it drops to close to 20. I spoke to my mechanic and he said they it may be my rear main seal. That was just aN over the phone guess. I just changed the oil on Saturday and noticed the leak on Monday afternoon. It drips while driving, and stops of course sometime after i park.

That’s still a possibility just sayin’.
First: Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

Second: What are the oil issues? Low or no oil pressure showing? Leaks? You gotta give more details than what you are giving.

Third:

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

Hey Guy, I dropped another post far below after getting clowned lol. It’s all good. I appreciate all your input. I’m not too knowledgeable about how this all works but I’m learning. I’ll post the repairs I’ve made after my last comment

Don't ever take these guys too seriously, when they are just kidding around. It is all meant in fun jest, and we rag on each other frequently, but it is all in fun. Virtually no A**holes here in this Forum, and if one stops by, we kind of ****** him/her out pretty quickly.

40+psi at rpms over 1500, and ~20psi at idle are normal operating oil pressures, once the oil has come up to temperature.

How much does your oil go down between oil changes, and how many miles do you put on the truck between oil changes?

If you can see that oil is dripping from somewhere, my first recommendation is to clean the underside of the oil pan and surrounding areas with a solvent, like brake cleaner. Then drive for a short distance, and again look under the oil pan again, and see if you can begin to trace where the oil is coming from. This is not always easy, but it is a good start to see if the oil leak is related to an oil pan gasket failure, a rear main seal failure, an oil pressure sensor leak, etc.

Let us know.

I have the same 2002 Tahoe 5.3 engine. Mine idles at 40+ psi oil pressure and if accel hard climbs to 60 psi. Will stay around 50 psi when cruising at highway speed. The oil leak could be from anywhere. Where do you see the drops at? Front, back, left, right or center. Back of engine can be oil pressure sender, back of intake, back of heads, oil pan or rear main seal area. Have you crawled under to see where fresh oil drips? If you have an oil cooler it could be leaking there or at the block off plate if have no oil cooler. Get some pics and post if you can.

Like what @Joseph Garcia said, we crack wise all the time. It helps break the monotony. Never meant personal. I am here for fun and to help if I can. Most all of us are.

Now, get the damn pics as requested. Time's a wastin'. :chewie:

The 5.8 was manufactured ever Friday evening after the engine assembly guy screwed up boring the cylinder walls and had to rebore them wider. It's very rare because they only made 50 per year.
