The painter and I agreed on $100 for his labor and materials. I have the old louvers if anyone needs them. He installed the driver's side and I did the passenger side. Actually very easy to install and you have to not be afraid of smacking them with your palm as you encourage the spring loaded fingers to slip in the holes running the length of the edge of the side windows.

Finally, Monday the 26th, the Z is going to another vet friend of mine's shop and he is going to do an all day, hell I don't know how long it all takes, for a complete inside and out detail. Carpets and buff out and complete clean and tires/wheels. The only thing I am not gonna have him do is the engine compartment. Mine is very clean anyway and I don't like others rummaging around under there.

Awesome! I still need to do this! Had the exterior done, but not the interior.

When I had the front bumper and mirror caps painted they buffed it out but not all over and some of the compound used was flung around and is on my side bars and rear top rubber pad on my rear bumper and even some on the glass. The new detail will take care of all of that.

Yes, I am really looking forward to an all over shine that is the same shade and clean carpet. I know this carpet is darker than it should be but it does not have stain places that are real dark.

One of the members at my American Legion is in his early 60's and he still works at a GM dealership in the area and is a salesman. He approached me the other day at the post. He drives around a very sharp 2018 Tahoe. He knew when I bought this rig in September, if I remember right, that it was in good shape then but has been keeping an eye on it's looks at the post. He told me the other day that he saw the new rear vent appliques, the new mirrors with new painted caps, the new look to the front bumper and the new tires and wheels. He asked about what he can't see. I told him the whole list and the future plans still in the works. He told me that after the detailing and without the additional other mechanical work, he would just about guarantee a trade in value of close to $14k. I told him no way. First, I don't want a newer/different rig and second, my mechanic friend who owns the shop that does some of what I don't want to do had already said when I get it all done he would give me $25k. I did not ask him if he was kidding because I already knew I was not gonna sell it.

I did go ahead and spend $1570.00 with RA yesterday. I ordered in all Genuine GM parts: Upper and lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm, both front wheel hubs, center link and the rear track bar that I forgot to get and replace when I did my rear control arms. At that time the knock sensors will be done as well as the harness, intake and valve cover gaskets/seals and throttle body seal and steering wheel position sensor. I already know that some will call me out for replacing something that may not be bad. As far as I know, all these components are still original. "I am helping the economy. I put my $1400 stimulus check toward these parts". I am getting to a base on my rig where I know the age of my parts and fluids on this rig. I will be to a point very soon where I will be driving for 5-6 years with doing just oil changes and dealing with anything else that pops up. I know, I know....the transmission is next but not till I have a problem. All parts are to be here before end of this month.
