Today was a fail day in regards the LED lamps install ...

The socket is completely different with the led one being bigger and having more contact prongs. Swapping harnesses is more involved that I originally estimated as it looks like the fuse box frame has to be disassembled. Not something I wanted to tackle without the safety net of a dealer's shop.

So I made an appointment for the dealership to deal with it Monday morning.
A more expensive approach but the only one I can think of at this juncture.

Ugh!

Well, at least your doing it right, and you realize when it's too much to handle. Others would tear the truck apart and then have to tow it to the dealer to fix/finish.

Can't wait to see them on there

Bummer Serge. I'm sure it will be worth the wait once they are on and looking sexy AF.

Well tomorrow one of two things will happen.

1. The service manager agrees to swap harnesses for me and instal them.
2. He gets scurred and doesn't want to do it.

If I can't get it done at the dealership I have to make a choice. I have a friend who is a Cadillac service tech in NJ who will do the swap for me at a discounted price. The problem is I can't get to him till the end of the month, and by that time, if for some reason it still doesn't work, it'll probably be too late to return the lamps for a refund. So I'd be taking a chance on holding on to them. I have to find out when the latest I can return them is, cause I don't want to be sitting on $$$ worth of parts I can't use.

Hopefully the dealer will be cool tomorrow and I won't have to make this decision.

Okay so so far so god, the dealer has agreed to give it a go. He's going to yank the HID harness from under the fuse box, plug in the LED one, run it above the engine, plug in the lamps, and check that everything works as it should. If as we suspect it does, he'll do the full swap.

If no hickups manifest, it should be done by end of today or tomorrow at the latest.

Fingers crossed.

There's good news and bad news ...

Everything works except, for some reason, the DRLs.

The head mechanic is going to pull some schematics out this evening and try to figure out why, cause there's really no reason for it. He'll call me tomorrow morning to let me know if he's come up with a fix.

I mean it's not a huge deal, I can live without DRLs ... but at the amount of $ these things cost I'd prefer them to work as they should.

Anyhoot the truck is there overnight.

Tbc ....
