was going to do the exact same thing but the guy at the body shop told me he wouldnt do the chrome around the outside block because its a plastic and would end up chipping right off?

You should open up those head lights and paint the chrome inserts black too (;

so that chrome is removable? So you painted the chrome and then reinstalled it?

Did you sand all the chrome off or did you just scruff it up really good. What benefit is there to the self etching primer vs the regular primer?

I followed the instructions on got it all taken off after hours of trying to figure out those black tabs! I was going to just plasti dip it but after that much effort I want something more permenant so figured I would follow your directions in regards to painting it.

sanded the chrome with 400 grit to scuff up a bit and then sprayed with primer. Gave it a few coats then wet sanded to get rid of excess build up. After that I sprayed a few coats of matte black spray paint. Looks like I need to wet sand that down a bit then do another coat to get rid of any bumps etc..

haha ... I was too lazy to edit out my monkey foot! I am lost one of the clips that holds the front bowtie on so I guess I will have to swing by lowes or something to find another one. I plan on the doing the bowties as well. I do have a question about the rear one though. I know you can pull the bowtie part off since but I want to know if the whole piece "the chrome part" can be removed from the back gate. I want to black it out completely not just the bowtie. Anyone had any luck with this?
