I have the sensor plugged in, and the cam I have is not necessarily aftermarket. Just the non DoD cam with the same lift and duration. Just the standard cam that comes with the AMS Racing kit I got from Texas Speed. In fact, they sell a DoD kit that comes with the DiabloSport tuner so I'm assuming the tuner works fine for DoD delete. I ordered it so I guess I'll let you all know if it fixes my issue.

I’m talking about the Valve Lifter Oil Manifold that acts as a valley cover, not a sensor.

so my guess is those things put the ecm in some kinda test mode that doesn't engage the dod while it's on. like you can't pass Emissions testing with them plugged in since it won't allow the ecm to do it's checks, you gotta pull them and drive around for a while before taking it into testing. so it's not like a tune, which turns off that routine in the ecm code itself, so at that point it doesn't even check that circuit anymore.

it's not that it's not working very well, it's probably doing what it's meant to do. it just doesn't match what you've done to the truck now.

you can mail the ecm off and get it turned off for about 50$ or if you have the money, it seems like the black bear tune is worth getting, since they do tranny adjustments that might make it last longer too. if you're into tinkering and learning hp tuners can be fun or frustrating. depending on your patience level
So if my DiabloSport tuner fails, I may go this route. However, I'd like to know where I can have this done for $50 lol. I looked at their website and from what I can tell, you're about $300 off. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong? I've never dealt with mail order tuning.

the 50$ one does only that one thing only.. like mail your ecm, they will change one drop. down box to disabled and send it back to you. nothing more but if you're at the end of your budget, I read good reviews but I didn't use it since I already have hptuners for other cars laying around when I got this one and disabled it before the trip home.

the issue as I understand it with the 6 speed tranny, if that's the one you have is the torque converter locks and unlocks constantly with the stock tune. the clutch is thin, wears out and kills the whole tranny. a tranny tune helps keep it from happening so much, making it last longer. that's why black bear is recommended over hand held tuners. but again, I have zero experience with any of them on this platform. I've used old school hyper tech hand held on cars back in the days, they did nothing and I have hptuners that I like to waste my time reading endless guides and forums about tuning different cars with it lol.

hopefully you'll be good soon.

That you take the time to read about hp tuners and learn what it can do, and how to do it, is impressive. It’s a sign of being intrinsically motivated, which is the best kind, and perhaps the most under-appreciated quality in people in the workplace, too.

I call it going down the rabbit hole lol. it's somewhat of a curse leading to over thinking everything haha. I started with old gm tpi prom cars almost 25 years ago and reading the 100s of pages on the DIY prom 3rd Gen camaro/firebird boards.

hptuners is oddly way eaiser and yet still very frustrating at times cause I know it should be to do something that's just not defined because it's now all about profits and not the old guys hobby.

with lots of help from those old guys forever ago we were able to replace the opti spark on a 93 z28 with the coil pack dual crank trigger ign system from a north-star caddy engine. that was an interesting fun times in cars.

I'm actually thinking about pulling the trigger on the DiabloSport tuner. It can turn off DoD and do many other cool things like tire size adjustments. It also has prebuilt tunes in it already and you can tune your shift points. It also allows you to return to stock at any time. It's $363 on Amazon and Summit.
The diablosport will do NOTHING with your transmission and shift points
You also can't disable CEL's with it.. It's just a canned "performance tune".
It will keep the AFM/DOD from engaging... But that's NOT your issue.
You have mechanically removed DOD, so you need HP tuners to "tune" it out...
and disable the related CODES and such

The diablosport tuner I got has transmission shift point tuning. I can't speak for any older units, but this unit does turn off DoD as well. It's worth a shot as I can use it for other things as well.

Edit: I got the tuner they sell with the kit.

I've read that it actually just installs a stock tune with DoD disabled on the diablosport forums.
