Ok so I checked my 04 Tahoe and it seems like the piece that holds the bumpstops was removed could I still install bumpstops and is it worth installing some

Mine had some popping and it was from the upper arm bushings. The ones that mount to the frame.

Yes mine was from the upper control arm bushing where it mounts to the frame. Mine would pop when turning all the way or over bumps. I put my yukon in neutral and started turning the wheel to the left then right until it made the noise and I confirmed it was the bushings not the ball joint. The ball joint can be checked out by jacking the tire off the ground and trying to move the tire from top to bottom.
