I have a 2004 tahoe with the stock alt and battery. Ive done the big 3 in 0/1 gauge wire and have 0/1 gauge running to my 2 farad cap. and same wire running from my cap to kenwood 7201 and 4 gauge to mtx thunder for my components. Im looking to upgrade my alt, but idk what size ill need. also would i be able to keep the stock battery or would i have to look into something like a kenetic added to the stocker? (I will be taking my capacitor out). I am looking to add a bigger amp to my 12s, something like the planet aduio ac 2000.2 sorry for the long post but this will hopefully be the last audio upgrade for my tahoe.

You shouldnt need a high output alt for the power your running, ditch the cap and put a nice big battery back there and you should be good. You already started off good doing the big 3. Our stock 130 amp alts are pretty big compared to other cars that come with 70 amp alts.

Should i just replace the stock with a optima yellow top or run a kenetic along with the stock. Or anyother brands?

You could run a kinetik along with the stock. See if you could get that stock upgraded as well. I have a redtop up front and few big batts in the back. Other good brands are deka dominator/intimidators, xs power (more on the expensive side), i run shuriken's in the back of my truck, they are made in same warehouse as kinetiks. I don't know about where you live but here there is a guy on craigslist that sells refurb optimas for cheap. You could get couple yellowtops if theres stuff like that around you.

an oversized batt under the hood would be enough im sure.

Get an XS Power battery, you can always add a secondary in the back if you need it.
