Hey everyone,

I currently have a 2013 Tahoe PPV. I have an opportunity to buy a new 2016/2017 Tahoe in either the PPV or Admin package, and want to see if anyone else has either made a similar move, or has the newer Admin/PPV package and cares to share their thoughts. My goal is to grab one of these packages, transfer over my existing emergency gear, and keep on rolling!

I don't need a spotlight, and honestly I don't really need a Havis style center console - so the SSV/Admin package would be a step up, but I do need the stickier tires for emergency responses, which I don't believe the SSV/Admin has.

As far as I understand, the new truck has the "EcoTec3" engine, not the ol' Vortec. Does that mean no more push rods and lifter tick?!

Any idea if the Admin package still has the built in flashers for headlights/tail lights?

VERY IMPORTANT: Does the SSV/Admin also have the "pursuit rated" lowered suspension?

Any thoughts on the interior or features? Obviously both are relatively spartan...

I'll post a pic of my build spec on my 16 SSV later tonight. My SSV came with console delete and has beefier springs in the rear. My SSV has 4wd obviously and tow package. I think the ride height is stock and perhaps higher than the PPV pursuit specific hoe. The height on my SSV really isnt an issue for get up an go situations. The tyres and 17 inch steelies along with high performance calipers/rotors/pads make all the difference along with the steering lock to lock being 30 percent greater than civilian hoes. My SSV looks lower than stock hoe's due to the 17 steelies and goodyear R spec tires however.

Not sure about built in flashers but I think my headlights have the DRLS that flash. Havent mucked with setting up the lights as i'm still waiting on my console from Ram

Well, I went ahead and made the upgrade from a 2013 to a 2017. What a difference!! I liked my 2013 a lot, but this thing is in an entierly different league. I purchased a Silver PPV with tow package, remote start, and the civilian console....it's nice to feel like I'm driving a "normal" car. I also have a iO6 radio upgrade on the way from gm-navigation.com. And I don't miss the spotlight at all! The previous PPV just felt so spartan, this thing feels much more luxurious.

Below is a side-by-side of the old and the new. Obviously I still have to get my emergency gear installed. Troy Products makes a siren controller and radio head console that replaces the overhead light console, so I won't really have to change anything on the interior.

I haven't had a chance to get some "professional" pictures, but here's a short clip from an incident I was on last week. '17 PPV with factory 17" wheels and a Ranch Hand brush guard. Vehicle is an unmarked "slick top," with all lighting hidden or minimally visible.

Lights and Sirens are controlled by a Whelen Cencom Carbide controller, so everythihng is sync'd!

Makes me wish I was still wearing a uniform. We didn’t have cool toys back in my day...
