drove to, well, actually, rode to dallas with a buddy of mine yesterday. about a 6ish hour drive one way, and picked up a 2000 6.0 with tranny, 7x,000 mi., to put into my '99 yuk. so, we'll see how this goes soon. gotta get my renovation project buttoned up first, so prob a month or so out from tackling this. but i'll try to take pics and hopefully be some kind of help to someone on the fence about this. (if i can figure out what the hell i'm doing myself... lol)

watched craigslist like a hawk for a few, (try searchtempest.com. it's another nationwide search engines for craigslist) and found this one for 2K. it's a good deal cause the guy had the harness, ecu, engine, fuse blocks, relay block, tranny, cables, but also the ENTIRE body harness for the truck it came from. headlights to tailights. i even have the damn trailer plug off the oe truck. funny huh. anyhow, i had passed on a motor/tranny from somewhere more local (hour and a halfish) that was gonna run me 3200ish, and i don't think it was gonna be as comprehensive as the setup i got. the guy had bought it with intentions of putting it in a 68 chevy truck, but never got around to it. he didn't say exactly what he payed for the donor truck, but evidently he got a hella deal, cause he said that selling parts off the truck basically paid for the truck itself, and selling the motor/tranny was just profit on top of it. he was saying that him and his old lady were splitting up, so he was just liquidating assets and toys and dividing up stuff. but hell, i'll spend 250 in gas there and back to save 1200. anyhow, needs exhaust manifolds (i'll just get headers), fan, matching yoke for the 4L80 to make up to my driveshaft, and some cleaning up. but i feel comfortable with the deal i got. if you keep your eyes open there are deals out there, as i've heard of deals WAY more ridiculous than this one.
