The PCM turns on the fans based off of temperature and/or AC pressure. The fans are also disabled above a certain speed.

instead of tuning your current pcm, could you just swap out your current one for an 05+ one?

IIRC you'll create more issues going this route than to spend the money to hvae a BB tune. THe benefits of a BB tune greatly outweigh that of just getting a stock for stock swap pcm.

yeah, i understand the benefits, i just haven't done my research on it, and last i heard about people getting their tuned, they had to use premium fuel, decreased fuel mileage, etc...

also when i got one tuned for my 01 grand am, it cost me a lot of money, i had to buy one and put up a core for my current one, got the new one, shipped back my core, it got lost in the mail, i got screwed for the $100 or whatever, and then the tuned one wasn't working properly.

and i am in Canada, so shipping aint cheap :/

you can get a tune for 87, but the benefits of a BB 93 tune actually GAIN you MPG fuel economy and the extra cost for fuel outweighs the cost of the tune and fuel cost by the MPG increase! You can get an in person tune from BB for around $250.00! Hit up Jenna or Justin with BB for more insight!

No, you would need to have the PCM tuned for your vehicle (ie. VIN, year, make, model)

Who was your tuner? If they have free updates, you should hit them up for an update if you are unhappy with your current tune.

Okay, What's the best way to add these e-fans to my 98 hoe? I had a set of dual 15's (*Perma-cool) I had nothing but problems with the fans coming aloose from the motors. Had them repaired under warranty. happened again, took them out went back to stock setup. They came pre-wired, radiator probe adjustable temp setting and tapped into AC switch. Would like to try again but, may need more research. Any ideas? How about those flexalites?

you might want to try a new thread in the 91-99 hoe section.

+1 on this. Since you have an OBS, you'll probably need to do a ground-up build. There are no PCM controlled options or OEM options for your year.

Flex-a-lite makes a very good product, that should be a good starting point. On your old kit, was it just that actual fans that were giving you problems? If thats all it was and you still have all of the wiring and stuff, you might be able to reuse alot of it, as long as it's in good shape.
