Ran out of gas now wont start

I ran out of gas in my 02 tahoe,now it won't start,even after I changed fuel filter.any answers why

Can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key? Fuel pump might be shot.

Do you know if the tank is empty or if the fuel pump stopped working? What does the gauge indicate? Can you hear the fuel pump running after the ignition switch is placed in run or start? Did you see the "low fuel" light before the engine stopped running?
Not sure if o2 models have the time out with no oil pressure signal feature.

my pump died when i was going to get gas, it was very low. not like i never did that before tho.

Besides forgetting to add fuel (sorry, could not resist), fuel pumps are like fish.
Pumping air is how fuel pumps get killed.
If your tank was really that empty, and you didn't add at least 3 gallons before trying to restart,
you didn't add enough gas.

I once ran out of gas because I was parked pointing uphill.
On a hunch, I coasted down the hill (backwards!) to level ground.
After the truck sat level for a minute, I was able to restart and get to a gas station.
