So what was the root problem, not able to build and hold pressure?

I believe so.
Higher boiling point of antifreeze, over just water.
I went thru and made sure every fitting was tight, putting in the plugs.
Giving steam in radiator somewhere to go rather than recirculate

I popped the cap of the coolant tank this morning and it doesnt look like i *lost* any coolant also. after topping it off yesteray i turned on the water pump and let it run for prob 10minutes and i kept getting water bubbles coming up in the tank. i put about 35psi on the cooling system last week for about 5 minutes and it held pressure fine so it was odd where they were from, maybe just trapped.

no coolant problems for the last few days, new parts should be here to set it up the same way a little more permanently.

back to having some shifting problems, i think i may have killed throttle body sending wrong tps signal to the trans. is also showing like 93% tps...which the truck ecms are sposed to stop moving it at 83%

well gents... i think i've got the cooling system whooped

soo i ordered that evans coolant, a new expansion tank, some crap to mess with the steam ports. only the coolant came in so far but i figured before i dumped the expensive coolant in and still had problems, maybe i should just try some cheap 50/50 mix stuff to see if a higher boiling point would help.

grabbed 2 cheap gallons, emptied all the water out threw it in. I had some 1/8 npt holes that were where the old steam vents went to. well i just put a couple pushlok fittings in them and made a little loop from 1/4 poly tube to seal them up (didnt have 1/8 plugs). just for the hell of it i messed with that a little just trying to make sure everything was bled out of the block and after messing with it noticed it would leak. took that junk out and put some plugs in. then i also put in a temp hose from the radiator upper most port to my existing expansion tank, but kept it below the coolant level so it could bleed air out and just suck coolant if it wanted to. just drilled a hole in the bottom of it and threw in a fitting since im swapping it out anyway.

threw the cheap 50/50 in there fired it up, let it idle a bit to get the temp up. got up to like 155 after a few minutes . took it out and ran it for over n hour and the hottest it got was like 184* wanted to settle between 170-175* cruising. maybe a touch on the cool side, but not really concerned with mpg n crap. was also "only" about 80* out so a few degrees cooler than i have been dealing with.

That's my typical go-to because it's not as messy when you have to drain it on the floor and well it's Florida lol.

im not sure its biodegradable but yea ive never had a problem running it+water before

chances of it freezing is maybe 2 days a year

I run it with antifreeze in my intercooler but with yeah it’s supposed to be ok to run with plain water for a drop of something like 30 degrees. Of course, your thermostat will have a say in that. I’ve never had an issue with my engine temps so I never added it to my cooling system, just 50/50 Deccool. I wonder what if you ran it with 50/50 antifreeze in your cooling system.

aint got no thermostat, track doesnt like antifreeze leaks... why i was trying to use just water +wetter. I seem to have it under control i think it was just the routing of the steam and radiator vent lines. with the electric pump the system works a little different, created low(vacuum) pressure and high pressure areas. Ive had it out a few times for hour+ drives, I drove it to work today cause i got up early and wouldnt have to worry about being stuck in traffic with it.
temp has been good settles around 170* cruising, a little spirited only goes up to like 185*...ive seen over 190 but thats with a few back to back triple digit pulls and comes back down.
ac on jumps it up another 5-7* probably over those
