Oof....speed engineering headers are like 1.5" shorter than I ever could make the flowtechs

Prob should waited to cut the flowtechs lol

tapping on them does feel like theyre slightly thinner, flowtechs i think are advertized as 16gauge but they dont feel as "tinny" as the SE long tubes i have. possible theyre 18 just shorter tubes makes them feel thicker.

and the vband flange is fairly magnetic, doesnt look stainless but theyre welded to stainless so maybe just a 409ss or something

That’s the brand I’m gonna try to fit on my Silverado. Being it’s bodied the engine is lowered in the bay so the hood fits plus it lays out on its rockers so the ARH ones I tried didn’t come close to fitting. I wasn’t going to cut them but the SE won’t break the bank if they don’t work and I end up ruining them.

still waiting on heads, so am just mocking some stuff up, i have my old stock heads but am not sure that everything is in the exact same spot as my aftermarket heads so i didnt want to start tacking anything up. wanted to get heads, get them bolted back on, tack everything in place. then i should be able to pull it out of the truck and weld up on my windowed block and heads hopefully.

but with the turbo sitting in that hole around there it should be bad getting the passenger side into it, my worry was i would have to actually come off the header, pointed away from the turbo, make a loop and come back to it, but i should be good with some tight radius angles.

but i need to get the passenger side header>turbo done and the drive side should be eazy peazy

Hey, progress is progress. its just strange to see this thread not at the top with new shit every time I visit. I felt it was being left out and we can't have that ********...

Heads should be another week or two?

lol

i go thru phases where i realize how meaningless this endeavor is and dont feel like spending money on it.
its also that redoing all of this, even if i buy new turbo im limited to the fuel system...the only thing im really gaining from this is efficiency on the hot side

between tubing, vbands, flanges, misc parts to move ac hoses and other crap i've prob thrown another $1500 at it in the past few weeks.
turbo i want is 4k, radiator going to be couple hundred, fuel system another 2k+ im just over it.... i really dont want this to end up some long term multiyear project but i also dont want to spend 10k on it right now

Well, it would take away the cool factor but you could always buy a C6 roller and throw the combo in it....

Not everyday you see a stock appearing full-size SUV in the low 10s and still be able to drive it.

I would've thrown in the towel over a year ago, before the dart block. You're a persistent one though. Nothing wrong with that either.

Once the parts arrive, you'll find the spirit again, I'm confident.

except i wish it were deep in the 9s already :(

yea im sure ill come back around with it, if i buy turbo i can atleast get it all back together and just turn it down (we all know how long thatll last)

the VSRacing turbo is a little beat...rebuild last time made it quit puking oil but it still is trying to get out. the exhaust side was pretty much stuck to the center section by burnt oil. i got it free'd up and cleaned up - the exhaust wheel looks like it tried to pass the broken piece of valve guide, couple bent blades. just using it for mock up for now to get an idea of how much room ill need
