keeps throwing the belt off when you give it a lil gas, can normal drive it and doesnt seem to happen. going to pull the belt tomorrow and check alignment of all the pulleys. its all oem truck spacing stuff so i dont know

Power steering pulley still out maybe a rib worth. Install tool just bottoms out on shaft gotta rig something up to set it back further

Used a large shallow socket behind the press part of the install tool and got one little "tink" out of it going on further. With a straight edge it's close, did a quick drive with a couple rips and belt stayed on.

Brakes are getting better too, wered a little mushy thought I might need to modulate abs while I bleed, but I think it may have just been all the rust on the rotors from sitting for a couple of months

Prob half what it was, just started to shear the threads on install tool when I kept trying to go further

Nothing's changed from the original setup except for that pulley being 1/16" off, right? Tensioner within it's safe range?

You're gonna have to have a helper play with the throttle while you watch the tensioner and pulleys.

i mean the pulley couldve been a 1/16 off before i just never had a reason to check it because it wasnt throwing belts.

what had happen wuz:
the way the turbo mounts, cold side air in the front/out the snail at the bottom. after one of my many taking apart and putting it all back together i guess i left the snail loose and it rotated into the old tensioner, busted the pulley on the tensioner, and belt obviously came off.
being what i imagined to be the original tensioner i went ahead and bought a new one and a belt. part: acdelco 39083
i cant remember the belt coming off prior to this last round of changing over to hydroboost and having the PS pulley off, but i didnt put many miles on it between new belt/tensioner.

my poor truck.... it seems belt issue is ok? i think the old belt more than anything helped, putting the tensioner back to its middle operating range and being worn enough that it sits down in the pulleys a lot more than a brand new belt.

had a few other projects i was "fixing" the crossmember at first i just cut a chunk and kicked it out to where the new mount location was, looks like crap, hit the extra capacity pan but it worked so i wasnt to worried about it. well i grabbed a whole 'nother crossmember and sectioned it as a wedge and moved the whole section back about 2" clears the pan, works out good for the new location. i filled in the openings from sectioning it with some 3/16" plate and painted the whole thing black. next one i do i will probably use two pieces of plate, one on each side the entire length of the crossmember that outer/inner weld to

the shift lever itself was kinda short, i mentioned having to offset it around the driveshaft. i ordered one from a 4l80 but it showed up clocked wrong so i couldnt use it anyway, but - the first one was kinda short and would only go into PRND before the level itself hit the pan and couldnt turn anymore. not really a big deal cause i dont ever put it in D3 (my column doesnt have D2 or D1). but to use the transbrake i need to put it in D3, so i cut both of the levers off in the mid section and made one longer one.

while i was under it putting in different crossmember, i realized i didnt put any fluid in the transfer case :banghead:
so a couple short drives with nothing but some assembly lube/gear oil on everything in there from when i put it all together, still seems quiet

perhaps.... im all paranoid theres something wrong with it. when it throws the belt the temp gauge goes way up instantly, making some noise doing like a 1500-2000rpm cruise and sometimes cold idle but i assume that is just some piston slap, kinda sounds like some knockin or piston slap i dunno.
i pulled passenger side valvecover just to just n make sure ll the springs/pushrods/rockers were fine didnt find anything out of the ordinary
old belt seems to stay on while giving it to it

there was something wrong........
