one stock axle and roughly 1-1/4 of spacers installed, rides like a dream.
idle tuning, i made a few changes last night- loaded tune- it sucked balls at idling, put yesterdays back in. going to try and go even leaner on table and see if that helps any, thinking it may actually still be rich, exhaust leaks adding air making it look like its dead on. if it doesnt help i jus go back. oh well
am happy about the axle though.

Gettin close boys, only 10% off on the fueling according to the wideband at idle and she idling pretty nice :oops:
running it in open loop just so it dont give a ****.
its idling a little bit lower, I could prob lower it down to about 700 and be stable but when it gets down there it's real choppy and a lot of engine vibration through the solid mounts lol. added a little bit of air and a degree of timing at idle since it seemed to keep trying to push the timing up trying to bring the rpm up where i had it.
started down pouring though , done for the night.

I also hadnt been pushing it very much cause i think its wrapping the axle and feels squirrelly as hell. but i got into it a little bit and saw a huge cloud/puff of smoke. scan looked fine, no knock, plenty of fuel (93oct) or anything. and was the first time i saw around 190kpa...had been stuck around 165kpa before...thinking it may have self gutting my new gm cat back :emotions122:

i also ordered another stock pan, this ones been leaking for a longass time, tried new gasket, rtv on the bolts, whatever no luck. refused to believe welding a bung could cause the whole rest of the thing to leak (no leak around bung or couple mounting bolts). then i was watching legitstreetcars on youtube and he has literally the same problem, welded bung leaked no where near it, but the rest of the bolts had oil and leaks. figured id give it a shot. execept i still need an oil drain. will try threaded bung probably, ive got a 3/4 npt dril and tap, with some thread sealer should work fine

You may have got the pan too hot while welding, and caused warpage. That would be my guess.

yea thats the general consensus. i just couldnt comprehend welding a 1"hole would cause the entire thing to warp. like if it leaked right at the mounting holes next to the weld sure. but like the entire other pan rail and across the back. but we shall see i guess

I watched that vid, too, last week. First time since I sold my 30th Anniversary Trans Am (bought new in ‘99 at age 19) at age 26 to buy our first house that I really missed that car.

Good luck with the leak. I once used a crowbar to keep the balancer from spinning breaking the crank bolt loose on that T/A for one of my cam swaps. Turns out the crowbar punctured the front cover. Oops. I was young! Ha.

I watched that vid, too, last week. First time since I sold my 30th Anniversary Trans Am (bought new in ‘99 at age 19) at age 26 to buy our first house that I really missed that car.

what his looks like is exactly how mine is, its not leaking enough to drip any, but its enough that everything is just covered in a light film under there, really annoying and looks horrible.

I cracked my original oil pan on the Camaro when we pulled the engine. I'm not exactly sure how we cracked it but it was seeping after I put the engine back in. Swapped it for a new one and had this one welded up. It warped it just a touch so I wasted the $50 I paid the guy to weld it. Your hypothesis is probably correct.

Glad you got the idle sorted out. I told you you'd get there :flowers2:

yea seems like if i could find someone with a large enough way to resurface the mating flange it would be fine. i'll prob keep it around and see how obviously warped it is

idle - is going good open loop, but startup is kinda iffy...during warm up rpm is kinda low so need to mess with it some more. hot starts are fine. may just try and fool the closed loop and hopefully itll work
