Random 4x4 switch

So i recently upgraded to a 04 gmc yukon slt in perfect condition however every time i start it seems to randomly start in a different 4x4 setting. It only changes from 2WD to 4WD to just nutural... Meaning sometimes i am driving and notice that the truck started in nutural but its working properly... When it starts in 2wd it works perfectly.
It never really goes into automatic 4wd.
Now when it starts in 4x4 i notice while im driving because when i get on the gas the transmission wont downshift.

My question is weather anyone has had/heard this issue before so i know if it's the switch or a new 4x4 actuator or i guess something else.

There will be a code stored in the transfer case segment. More than likely it is encoder circuit code. You either replace the whole shift motor, expensive option. Or you can take the it out, take it apart and swap the encoder ring. $100 part, Dorman makes one. Dealer didn't list it separately.
