Before my 01 Yuk was mine it had a tire blowout that took out the rear heater core lines. Since then there have been some very exposed jimmy rigged coolant lines that go from the hard lines to the heater core. I have been meaning to make this less of a hazard and now I need to finally get around to it because one of the hoses got a hole in it. Two questions:
1. what did GMC use back here? were they just normal heater lines? inlet and outlet are different sizes so you have to buy specific line.
2. I think I'm just going to put a 5 inch "u" heater line and bypass the rear heater core, I have used it zero times in one year. Any problem with this? I wanted to bypass the system at the engine bay but it looks like doing it in the rear is the easiest way. thoughts?

Why bypass?

Not sure the extent of damage from the blow out. But it seems there may be as much work involved to fix it verses the work to bypass it. If its just the lines that got taken out.

Of course that is just me having something rigged or non functioning would drive me nuts.

the blow out took out the plastic shield that protects the soft lines, whatever the soft lines are. Maybe they are less than soft, I wish I knew what the OEM ones were. the work involved in bypassing it is less than 2 min and less than $2. The hard lines are right next to each other so I just need to loop them. My Yuk is more of a work truck and nothing is permanent if I bypass so I'll probably just do this.
