Reduced Engine power

Just want to let everyone know. I ran into a thread ( which I cant find any longer ) of a business owner that either had a 100 of our year Chevy trucks or a 1000 in his company. Cant remember how many. He stated that the 99% of the reduced engine power issue was from the accelerator sensor.

After fighting off and on "Reduced engine power" for 3 years. Including replacing the throttle body sensor, the wiring to it, throttle body gasket, cleaning the throttle body, tightening the ground bolts behind the engine, etc...

I then replaced the accelerator sensor based on the business owners recommendation and the nonsense has finally stopped! So try the accelerator sensor first before you go through all the other suggestions.

The dealer will tell you that you have to purchase the entire gas pedal assembly. This is not the case. You can buy the sensor separately. You will still need to unbolt the screws on the gas pedal and pull it out a little to install new sensor but it takes about 45 minutes. Easy peasy.

I hope this helps somebody out there that is going through the same frustrations i have been going through.

that's probably the complete opposite actually (least likely) otherwise it would have been widely noted by now, but it is another thing to check off.

I have two 2003 Tahoes that had the same issue and i have replaced both and the problem was solved instantly. This could not be a coincidence. Original sensor has a plastic slot that is very thin and is prone to wear. The new sensor has a thicker walled slot ( they must have figured this out ). (Hard to explain). That wear bending the slot walls was what I believe was causing some play and why there was intermittent sync issues.

Mine is up to 2006 model so maybe for the newer models there are other issues that apply more.

Out of curiousity, y’all who have had this issue and replace the APP sensor, who has powered pedals that you can back and forth?

I do and you can unbolt the two bolts holding the entire assembly and just twist it to the side so you can get to the hex bolts for the sensor. You will see this when you get involved.

I got REP along with CEL for the 1st time on my way to work this am. It stayed running the whole time, but I had zero throttle response. I shut off the engine then started again and throttle began to work. Sounds like thus could be my issue

Maybe but it is not that simple. This quark is a giant pain to locate. My problem came back after about 6 months. I just changed out the throttle body and the wiring to see if this will help. Talk to someone who has figured out how to locate the problem. I have simply changed out parts that are likely and it is not working. It is really a bugger.
