Wow..... um im lost. Lol. Electrical is not my forte... im gonna pick up a few more 10A fuses in the morning on my way to work. But what bugs me is I don’t know why it blew. And if I put the 10A back in and it blows again I have no idea what the next step is to fix the problem.....

Grab a box of 10s, put one in, and we'll go from there. Figuring out why a fuse is blowing will be better than putting out a fire in your baby.

If it blows the 10 you’ll have to start troubleshooting the over draw but I agree, don’t run a 15 in a circuit designed for a 10 or your problem could end up being melted wiring in a place that’s impossible to see. But first make sure 10 is the correct fuse for that location by looking at the fuse panel cover. Then try the 10 and see what happens.

I did look at the fuse cover first to know a 10 is supposed to go there..... I’m not that electrically challenged....

So I unplugged the 15A from my third tail light fuse this morning before heading out for work. Luckily the mechanics shop that I do washes for every week was where I head to be for work today and our local Carquest shop is right next door. Went in and grabbed a pack of 10A fuses on my way in. Got home from work a little bit ago and put a 10A back in to the third brake light. It seems to be working fine and didn’t blow the fuse this time around. But that wasn’t continuous use while driving. That was just pushing on the brake pedal with the truck off to see if it would light up and hold. So far so good. I’ll have to keep an eye on it the next few days and make sure it’s working right. I’ve got a 3ish hour drive to San Diego on Thursday so that’ll be the test I guess to see if all the wiring is good and the light doesn’t blow the fuse out.

So... Two things here.

1. As voltage drops, amp draw rises, given that resistance is a constant. So if there's a lot going on, and you're voltage dips, the draw on that circuit will be the highest at that given moment.

2. A dead short is a dead short, period. Any amperage fuse will give up the ghost. I'm betting by the look of those exposed wires you showed, that's what you got. Whether it looked it or not, that 10 was blown, that's why it didn't work even after you fixed the wires (YOU DID FIX THOSE RIGHT?)

As long as you repaired those wires (YOU REPAIRED THOSE WIRES RIGHT?), you're likely good to go.

Yes I did fix the wires. That was the point of going to the junkyard for the harness that my local NAPA ended up not being able to get me. All wires are good to go.

I’m sure I’m gonna get some flack for this but oh well.... it’s my truck... lol. The Powdercoat and the high heat paint on my MBRP exhaust tip didn’t hold up and it’s been annoying the heck out of me having to look at it. so it took a couple weeks but I ordered a stainless steel RBP tip. Had the old one chopped off and the new tip welded on this morning! I wanted something really different than what everyone else has and I like the look a lot more than I thought I was going to!
