I used adhesion promoter. Self etching. Then base and clear.

I hadn’t had good luck with adhesion promoter on other projects. It seemed like it made the primer run and it didn’t stick. But that doesn’t mean anything. I could have done it totally wrong...... lol

Sounds like you did it wrong lol. Mine came out like glass. You’ve seen the video on Instagram. Shows my front bumper. But if you had great success without it then keep doing what you’re doing.

I use 2 part epoxy primer, because I read somewhere that on chrome, the reason paint doesn't stay is because the paint needs to flex, and the epoxy primer does that. I painted over my chrome surround 2 years ago and it's still going strong.

Teaser pic!! The new grill came out so awesome! I’m so excited!!

Got the new grille final sanded, clayed, and sealed. I scored some chemical guys hydro charge last time I was down there in the raffle. It’s a sprayable ceramic coating. Everyone raves about it. It’s really expensive and almost never in stock because it sells so fast when they get it in stock, and I won some last time I was there. That was pretty cool! I’ve been trying it out here and there. I sealed the new grille with it last night and let it sit over night. Had to give the truck a rinse to get rid of some tree sap, and the water beaded up pretty well. I’m impressed with it so far. And the new grille! It looks good! Next project to tackle is the paint on my bumper cover.

I need some instruction on proper steps to repaint my mirror caps. One is just black plastic (new) and the other has factory, faded & chipped paint.
