So my windshield has had some minimal issues over the last couple years, but enough to annoy me. Had Safelight seal a small chip on the passenger side right when I bought the truck and that’s held up perfectly. But I could always still see the chip. And then last summer at some point I picked up another small chip in the drivers side right about my eye level and it’s been annoying me a lot. It never spread surprisingly. But then about a month ago I was parked, working on a clients car for a couple hours, get in to leave, and I see this crap in the passenger side of the windshield and I was fit to be tied. Lol. I’m like alright this is going to spread sooner than later so I need to just get it replaced. All the glass shops have been apparently out of GMT800 pick up and SUV windshields everywhere...
A glass shop I had done a little bit of work with previously had one in stock, and when I drove down to the base of the mountain to have it done, he sold the windshield to someone else knowing I was my way from big bear. First come, first serve my behind! I told him I’d pay for it in advance and he said he couldn’t do that. So I told him to go pound sand! Lol.

I bit the bullet and scheduled Safelight to come do the job. It was more expensive but it saved me a trip off the mountain.

The Safelight tech was great! They were supposed to do it Wednesday morning and the primary tech that comes up to big bear called in sick last minute. So the backup tech rescheduled me this morning, did the job in the driveway, and even got here ahead of schedule which was great. He ended up waving the $34 travel fee since they had to reschedule me to today which was a nice touch. Still expensive but worth it. He was very respectful about being in and out of truck, commented on how much he liked my Escalade gauge cluster(lol) and was done in about an hour. Windshield is awesome and I’m stoked to not have a cracked and pitted glass up front. Let it set after he finished up and then clayed the glass so I could throw a couple coats of CG three year ceramic coating on it. You know me.... gotta keep that fresh glass all sealed up and clean... lol. Now that it’s new I’d also like to find a reputable shop to put the clear ceramic UV film on it to keep the heat down. Not going to tint my windshield but the clear film should help a lot. So nice looking of clean new glass!!

Fun little surprise when I got home late afternoon from work today. Cindy does a lot of sowing, and she also does a lot of cool print stuff. She made me a custom vinyl decal logo for my Rocky Mountain stainless steel tumbler. I knew she was gonna do one up for me but I didn’t know what it was gonna look like, or when she would have it done. Lol. Loving the tumbler!

Finally got around to swapping out my rear bumper cover. Ordered the metal retainer ring that goes behind the apart tire lock cylinder and the project sat since. Lol. Had to JB weld a couple of tabs back into place on the top step pads I pulled with the cover from the junkyard Denali. I then sprayed them with a couple coats of NAPA brand plasti-dip and they came out really good. Reused my lower step pad since it was in better shape but gave it a couple coats of dip and I like the results. Looks like brand new plastic trim. Body shop did an excellent job with paint on the cover. I’m happy with it. And no more scratches and paint chips...

Nice work. I forget, did you get that bumper cover at the wrecking yard or is it new?
