Well I've had a bad misfire for a while now. Couldn't figure it out so I finally coughed up the money to have it diagnosed. Turns out I've got 3 bad injectors and my ecm is supposedly screwed up. The shop wants 800 bucks just to replace the 3 injectors and clean the other ones. I said F that since I can buy a complete set for 300 bucks.

So I'm gonna tackle this pita after I get paid next Friday. Just wondering if y'all have any tips or suggestions for other things I should replace or upgrade while I have the top end torn apart.

its simple but give ur self plenty of time to do it slow and put back a few colds ones and make sure everything is clean wen u put it back together u dont have to worry about mis matching plugs cause they all only fit in the hole they came out of

If you are there maybe go ahead and take it one step
further and do the lower intake gaskets too. Only time
before they leak. As for ECM just get one from BB and
be done!

Dammit Johnny, too bad you live in the SATX!! If not, I would have gladly helped you out while having some cold ones!!! lol Goodluck man!! Also, make sure that the CPI unit sits all the way in the manifold, use some vaseline if you have to to assist in popping it back in, youll know what I mean, when you get to that part if the install.

Well I installed a new set of injectors yesterday. Really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The problem is it didn't fix the misfire. Now all I can try is a new computer but I just know I'll replace that and it won't fix the problem. I keep throwing my time and money at this thing and it still runs like shit. Everyone I know is telling me to just man up and take my piece to the dealership and let them figure it out. What do you guys think?

You should of replaced the lower intake gaskets the 5.7 vortec is notorious for leaks there causing misfires and other issues. Do you have any codes? Dealer is an option but very costly versus a good outside mechanic.

i'd have my doubts taking it to the dealer, but that's just me. i assume they wouldn't even remember how to troubleshoot anything older than 10 years, and they'd just start ******* around with it.
then again, the dealer near you might actually be a good one :)

I took your advice and replaced the lower intake gaskets while I had it torn apart. When I went to buy a new gasket for the plenum they could only sell me a complete kit that included the lower intake so I said what the hell and just changed them all. As for the codes, it usually shows up as cylinder 3 misfire but sometimes I get a random cylinder misfire code.
