Ya, I feel your pain.

When I got my truck, it threw up misfire codes too, I changed plug wires, replaced plugs, ran fuel tank injector cleaner, ran fuel rail injector cleaner, etc. At one point I even thought maybe a bad torque lockup setup(studder).
Nothing seemed to help.
Then I had our old guy Mech run a compression test on all cyls. Two cyl's were only 90psi. Over the next few months it got worse. Bad misfire, fouling plugs once a week, loosing a litre of oil a week, etc. I ended up buying a new crate motor.

I hope that you don't have to go to that extreme!

Just my .02 I'm a server guy, not a mech, just talking about my past experience with the truck, But maybe you could do a compression test, just to make sure everything is ok?

Man that sucks! Just got off the phone with my buddy with a 99 tahoe same crap. He is taking it in I will try to get the low down see if he figures it out. New ECM would be nice but hold off till the miss is diagnosed unless you find it to be the issue. Let me know if I can help out.

Give it a shot maybe they can pinpoint it so you don't chase they problem with more money and no fix.

What about timing maybe the change stretch and jumped. I have also heard that sometimes the intake manifolds get cracks in them and that is where the misfire comes from. Have you done a compression test. maybe you have a burnt valve????

I'm gonna go buy a compression tester tomorrow morning and check it before I take it to the dealer but I really don't think it's a valve problem. It runs like shit all the time when I'm driving normally but when I really step on it, it seems like all the power is there.

Well apparently my distributor is ******. He said the gear is paper thin and the teeth are starting to break off. Quoted me 800 bucks to fix it, 600 for parts and 200 for labor... ****** lol. I'll go to advanced and pick up a new one for 150 and hopefully work on it this weekend.
