Shift kit 4l80> built 4l65 but I understand the dilemma. I have 3 of the 4 parts they mention.

-Harness-speartech $175
-Crossmember- $150 pt.net member made part
-Spacer-not needed if your converter specd for 4l60 plate..
-blackbear can segment swap your computer- free

So that output shaft cost how much?!

They still don't address the driveshaft issues. I'm not completely familiar with the awd swap..just thinking it thru.

time2kill was selling then for like $600 and I'm not sure if the ones on transmissioncenter will work on the NVG149, they don't mention the tcases by p/n. I can't find any for sale currently that will work for sure.

OK maybe not. I have the NVG149 tcase and there's an issue with the input shaft fitting the 4l80. There was a member on performancetrucks.net that made an adapter but it looks like he only does it if you send your case to him now and it's like $650 plus shipping plus 4 weeks. Once again I'm considering one of the built 4l65e's that supposedly will take 650 hp. @sumo bought one for his blown Tahoe. I'd like something that just bolts in and will take the power since this is my DD.
Edit: further research has led me to this place https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/4l60e-to-4l80e-conversion-kit-tahoe-hummer-2-pickup-others/ that sells a conversion kit for my truck to mount up an 80e to my tcase , engine and ecm for $1264 and I'd still need the transmission. And a built 80e is another $3000 -up.
Those prices are to expensive. Trans mount is about 200 or modify your 4l65e. You don't need built unit, a 4l80 with w shift kit can support up to 800 HP. You can get a used 4l80 for about 200-600 dollars. You don't have to pay for a harness. You literally swap around 3 pins in the transmission harness which is free. The input shaft is a different story. You can change the input shaft or the output shaft to get them to match. Can have your driveshaft cut with 1350 ujoints and th400 yoke adapter or use a driveshaft from a 2500 HD. All in all, you could do it for less than a grand if you dint mind used parts

The 80e length is different so i think the front shaft has to be extended or use a 2500 and rear shafts has to be shortened. Not sure on specifics but the transfer case seems to shift rearward and you have to adjust the shafts accordingly.

2wd a lot easier..just change the yoke on the driveshaft.

Lol, just read your post..basically what u said.

Trans. I think its done, just like that. I'll know for sure tomorrow but I went for a long drive to the river and when we got there the engine died. It acted like the trans locked up and made the engine die, and then when we left to come home it started up normal but when I put it in reverse the engine died again. I was like WTF and power braked it a bit and it acted ok until about halfway home, on a long uphill at about 50 it didn't want to downshift so I did it manually. Right after that the temp shot up to 280 and the warning came on so I pulled over to let it cool down with the engine running but it stayed hot for a long time. I checked the fluid level and it looked OK. I called AAA for a tow. It was taking over 2 hours and still no truck had been dispatched and the trans was normal temp so I drove a few miles more and it acted OK until it got hot again, then it started slipping so I pulled over again. Now after I got home, it's locked up. As soon as I put it in drive or reverse it kills the engine, even giving it some gas. I have no clue about transmissions but I know it was time for me to do something anyway.
