Well the axles shipped today and I also got a notice from TurboTax that the govment extended the deduction for mortgage insurance premiums and I might need to file an extended return so I checked it out, and I'll be getting almost what I paid for the axles back as an extra refund. That worked out pretty good.
Lucky dog. Good for you. I saw a pickup that had what looked to be the same rims that you have on the Silverado. Couldn't get a pic tho.

More interested in the more money for mortgage insurance.

If you paid mortgage insurance, it was deductible in 2016 if you itemized. But in 2017 that deduction wasn't extended until after most people had already filed. TurboTax let me know that since I used that deduction in 2016, and they added that deduction back in after I'd filed in 2017, I should look at it to see if I'd get a bigger refund if I re-filed.

I am pretty sure I was late in the year or my tax guy didn't tell me :(

The axles will be here tomorrow and it will be a race to get them in before the storm hits. It's supposed to blow 70-80 on the coast and up to 50 here in the valleys starting tomorrow night. And alot of rain of course. Sometimes it's hard to be a driveway mechanic.

Well...the axles were definitely different. You can see in the pic that the wide part of the axle is about 1 1/2" longer so the ABS reluctor can grab it. they seemed to measure just about 1/16- 3/32 different in one of the length measurements so I was a tiny bit concerned. Then when I tried to install the passenger side one, it didn't want to go all the way in. I tried the old ones and they slid right in on both sides. But neither new one wanted to go all the way in on the passenger side. It felt like it was air pressure though; it wasn't hitting any metal. I used a quick clamp on it and it went in. It was just hard to push in for some reason. Weird. Once it was in though, it meshed and rotated fine. When I was installing the calipers, the driver side was tight and the axle didn't want to rotate easy. I was afraid it was the axle length. I started the truck after I filled the diff and put it in drive but that side wouldn't move unless I tapped the brake. I went ahead and installed the wheels and spacers and went for a drive. Everything seems fine; brakes work good and after a short drive the driver side seems to be OK; it wasn't too hot. I think the brake pad just needs to wear a bit if it hasn't already. But the best thing is the ABS, Traction Control, and Stabilitrack are all working and there's no more warning lights on. And I have disc brakes in the rear.IMG_8146.JPG IMG_8147.JPG IMG_8148.JPG

Good job man.... this is turning out to be an excellent truck since you have worked out most of the bugs.

Thank you. It seems almost too good to be true that this worked, especially after I thought it was fixed after the steering position sensor was replaced. That lasted until I drove it and all the warning lights came back on lol . But then when I discovered the reluctor flopping around inside the axle tube I was like wth.
