stock 3.42 but would like 3.91 or 4.10 when the tire system is done. it would be a dd and off-roader with the option to do 1/4 mile at the track. that is why it needs a Whipple super charger.

Huh? ^^^^^ I figure he's asking about my rig.... Either way, they are 3.55 right now. I'm planning either 4.56 or 4.88. I'm swapping to a manual, may go to the sm 465, if I do, I may only go to 4.10. But with a 5 speed, I'll probably do a 4.88. 4.56 would do tho if that's what I find at the right price.

If you plan on highway driving this after the trans swap, I'd make sure to put an overdrive in it. I have 33's and 4.56 gears and spin nearly 3500 rpm at 70 in drive. 4.10's will bring it down to about 3,000 at that speed, and your bigger tires will slow it down, but not by much. For trail work, I like having the 4.56 gears so that I'm not stressing the transmission everywhere I go, and in your case, the lower gears would mean you wouldn't have to slip the clutch or lug the motor so much. My recommendation is 4.56 if you plan on highway driving or 4.88 if it will become a trailer queen.

What trans depends on $$. I just found an sm465 and t case for $300. But I'm on a layoff again... And am trying to get this Ls motor ready to swap in too... I've gotta look at my options first.

Idk. I've got 35's right now. I didn't move the axle forward, so they already rub. Probably will stick with 35"... Maybe start trimming and run a 37" I the future. But I want a skinnier tire. I don't like the big 12-14" wide tires. Which will help with rubbing, as well as get more backspacing.

for you going from the stock 245/45/16 tires and the likely installed stock 3.42 gears to 35 inch tires you can do a 4.10 gear set and you will only be 81 engine rpm over the original setup rpm at 70 rpm in overdrive. basically your drive-train strain would be the same as stock again.
