Just call a dealership service department with that last 8 of your VIN number and they will tell you which alternator you have and also which belt part number you need in less than 60 seconds.

Turned out I have a 160 amp alternator from the factory...

im going to do that today when i get home, im curious the size of my alternator.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they put a 160 amp alternator in. In fact, the guy at the parts store didn't believe me and said it couldn't be more than 140 amps. I figured most people actually had the larger amperage unit since there is so much going on electrically in these trucks.

I think 160 amp alternator was installed on the police package Tahoes.

Whats your speedometer go up to? You may have a police edition

Speedo only goes up to 120. It's a standard LT model as far as I know.

Did this yesterday. The old belt was starting to crack, but still had life. But for $35 why not. Real easy. I forgot that AutoZone has these belts...didn't know until I went on their website to see what belt # they said I needed.

So the 960 worked perfect!

I have a pulley under drive and a overdrive pulley on a 200 amp alt. Factory belt won't fit but, through trial and error I have nailed the correct length to 93in. I would love to have a 93 in. gatorback belt. Who's got em?
