On my new-to-me 2002 Yukon XL, my outside driver mirror shakes at highway speeds. I think both mirrors may be aftermarket as the mirror caps are a glossy black and the Yukon is blue. The RPO in the glove compartment is DK2, which according to what I've found online indicates MIRROR,OUTSIDE,RH & LH REMOTE CONTROL,ELECTRIC, DEFOG (PAINTED). Anyway, I have a copy of the 02 dealer brochure and according to that, standard equipment on all non-Denali Yukon and Yukon XLs was powered left and right heated mirrors with ground illumination. So, my question is, am I supposed to have the puddle lights on mine or not? Currently, they're not there, but again, I think they're aftermarket mirrors and the previous owner may have cheaped out. Thanks

My 04 Tahoe Z71 has RPO code:

DL3 MIRROR O/S - LH & RH, REMOTE CONTROL, ELECTRIC, HEATED, POWER FOLDING, TURN SIG IND, LT
SENSITIVE, COLOR

Mine are supposed to be body color. A PO replaced the side door handles with chrome handles with pewter trim and the white outer skins on the outside rearview mirrors were replaced with chrome plated skins.

Mine do have heated defrost/defog, LED turn arrows and the puddle lamps that light up the ground.

I don't know if this helps...

the DK2 should have puddle lights yes, so your mirrors are probably not original. you can find used originals on ebay for around $50 each if you poke around

Thanks, I thought so but wasn't sure. As it turns out, on Faceboook market I found a guy about 50 minutes away from me that disassembles GM trucks and SUVs at his house and sells the parts. I picked up a couple of nice mirrors from him for $80, cheaper than the aftermarket ones. Now I just have to paint the caps on them unless I decide to go chrome.

They do! I fold them in every time I go to the car wash or get squeezed into tight parking.
I don't tow, so I think I what I have now over the oversized late model-style tow mirrors.
I'll keep what have unless they break, then probably replace with same.

Mine is Z71, so it came with body color trim, bumpers and grille.

A PO swapped out all the side door handles, rearview mirror skins and bumpers to chrome.

Door handles might have been from Yukon or Escalade? Handles are chrome and the plastic trim around them is a gloss metallic pewter. Maybe they were aftermarket if not Yukon/Esky parts...

PO also installed an aftermarket aluminum grille and headlight kit. The one that has the lights and signals in one pod, that looks kind of like later model. I swapped for stock chrome grille (it was free) and I like how that matches the rest.

It may not work for everyone or on every color, but on the arctic white... I think it works really well.

Speaking of going chrome, has anyone purchased the Dorman chrome caps? If so, what did you think about the fit and finish of them? Thanks.

mine have always been painted all of the chrome covers I have seen have been garbage, if you want the chrome look I would go with the stick on type like putco at least then they wont be total garbage and if it comes off it's easy to put back on with double sided tape

Not sure what the PO put on for mine. They are holding up really well. They don't scream "after-market junk". Fit and finish are good. That is what made me think they came from another model that might have originally had chrome covers on the outside mirrors. If no other models did come with chrome, then these seem to have been a quality replacement of some kind. The PO did not seem to cheap out on things. They put in a Corsa Performance exhaust, which I am really grateful for that choice in upgrades! - Sounds sweeeet!
