Should i change Transmission Fluid Change and Axle Fluid?

Transmission Fluid Change and Axle Fluid Change?
The SUV, has over 200k miles, and i dont know if i should change the fluid. i have heard and have some experience of changing fluid on a car with such a high mileage.

It depends for your tranny history. Regular driving conditions have dictated no tranny service unless fluid is in bad condition. Check your owners manual for details. At that mileage just let it go until it gives and start fresh.

I say when in doubt change it! You cant hurt it and its not a huge investment. Good time of year to do it anyway and it will give you a chance to give the RP a good inspection.

I'll ad my 190000cents. I dropped the pan and did a fluid change as well as install a new trans filter. Appx. 3,000 miles later I enjoyed the expense of having my transmission rebuilt. My transmission guy told me that if the fluid was never changed then don't do it. Your essentially taking out the friction modifiers that the internals need to do their job. If you were normally doing drop and fills and changing out the filter, then keep on doing it. My Yukon was mainly a highway driver, but i guess when a transmission is gonna go it's just gonna go.

When I picked up my Tahoe it had around 232k or so on it and i drained and refilled the front and rear diff and tranny and haven't had any problems still runs/drives mint, id say go for it just don't flush the tranny just do a drain and refill and replace the filter and gasket

Just do it!!! if it breaks. then iam ****.. if i dont change it, and it break then iam ****.

I all i heard is was park for a long long long time in One place in Mexico before i got my hand on it.

Maybe i just change it.


What OIL SHOULD be good for my TRUCK.. Please NO GUEST I need exaxt Grade and is it for the Axle or Tranny FLuid. i have a 1999 Yukon Denali.. SHould i go with Factory Spec OIL. or go get something els. like LUCAS additive?

I dont exaxtly know what i need. my Spec is 3.73 Ration and its 4x4. what fluid should i use or should i use the Grade GL5
Viscosity 80W-90, same as the Front? Also, should i add Additive to help protect it? like LUCAS

well we know you do not have a diesel(I wish I did) we are positive you don't have a 1 ton tahoe (would love to see one of those built) so what remains is whether you The locking differntial option or not on the rear. But that does not matter because wether you do or not it uses the same spec. Unless your rear has been modified outside the factory build.

If the front is not an awd setup then yes use the same as in the back.
