Sounds like the diesel option will be tough to get for some time :(

I think this is more than a short term “chip issue”…. More like a cascading series of shortages that won’t soon be mitigated….
Will push the value of these vehicles new and used higher and higher…
Just another roadblock for people waiting/wanting to order….

It's EVERYTHING. All vehicles, trucks, heavy trucks, parts, the whole nation is in a supply nightmare with EVERYTHING.

Done deliberate. Not all of it but most of it. There's certain kinds of countries that free people just ought not to do business with as this is just what you can expect from them when you put too many of your eggs in their basket.

As for production being cut, that's too bad and not good for the country. GM and the others ought to learn a lesson and start making these needed parts here like we used to. So how much did "outsourcing" really save you in the long run? Save for those who cashed in and split, nobody benefits long term.

Well, I hope they keep the design on the back burner for when things get better, always wanted a diesel suburban and a diesel Denali would be real nice for my wife someday.

I’m saying this engine will be around 2 more model years max….
There will be upwards pressure to continue to EV, and diesels are still considered old and “ungreen” technology. These are the end days for passenger vehicle diesels. Happy to have just one more before they are gone….

It will be almost impossible too drive from Michigan to Florida in an electric Tahoe or Suburban. The battery packs in those will be huge and take 8 hours to charge every 300 miles. The diesel needs to be fueled one time before we would make it to our condo down there. This whole EV push is being rushed and not practical for folks who drive beyond the first charge range of these EVs. I wonder what hurricane evacuations zones will look like in the future. Gonna be tough too evacuate millions of folks in their EVs in a timely manor with no way of charging that many heading out of town.

You are talking to someone who drives Michigan to Ft Myers multiple times a year and has for years. I know all the scenarios , been thru Irma and ETA last year. Diesels are with their weight in gold when stations are out of RUL and people are getting nervous. But what we think won’t matter…Just hope this one lasts me along time…
