That's exactly what I am thinking. Seems more fuel delivery related than electrical, grounds, starter, etc.
Like I said it's becoming so predictable.
Cold starts it's always perfect 100% never an issue.
2nd start of that day after a quick run to the store 90% chance the starting issue will occur. Same thing every time. Like groundhog day, lol.

If nothing else, go to Autozone and they will likely have this available for you to borrow.

Let's put it this way. I would get that fuel delivery possible problem looked at very soon because I can guarantee you that if the pump goes south, it will not be in your driveway.

Like I said previously, monitor the fuel pressure especially on the 2nd restart where the problem occurs 90% of the time, a fuel pressure tester is $20 at harbor freight or you can rent one from the auto parts store for $25-30 for which they refund you upon return of the tester.
it is normal for the starter to keep trying to start the motor (after you release the key) under certain conditions they started implementing that around 2003/2004, dealer told me 2004 but my 2003 has the option. it's some kind of cold start assist but they may call it something else.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying when I blip and release the key and let the computer take over the starting sequence that if the engine never fires the starter will continue running forever or until the battery goes dead?
In my case the starter will turn for probably 5-6 seconds and the process stops all on it's own (which seems like forever when it NORMALLY only turns for a second or two to fire the engine).

there is a duty cycle for a no start im sure, but i dont know how long it is? 5 to 6 seconds is way to long to fire the engine, i agree with fuel delivery as previously mentioned.

So another question would be how could a P0442 be related to this starting issue because they began occurring at virtually the same time.

IMO, that code is not related. You said you replaced valves but I am sorry, did you say you replaced hoses? They get holes in them as well. If I thought your evap system was clogged somewhere or a pinched line then maybe, and I mean maybe, a vent issue is causing a problem with venting the tank and could maybe contribute to fuel pump delivery problems.

P0442=The P0442 error code is an evaporative emission control code and is an indication of a small leak being detected in the evaporative emission system. ... The evaporative emissions (EVAP) system is used to prevent fuel vapor from escaping into the atmosphere. Code P0442 stands for EVAP system small leak detected.

Right I am aware of the P0442 being a small leak detected. I have only replaced the gas cap, purge valve and vent valve. I have not replaced anything else.
The CEL and starting issues began occurring at the same time so that's why I'm thinking they must be related in one way or another.
It's just trying to connect the dots on this mystery. Why would a small EVAP leak cause an intermittent no start when engine is warm??

my guess is it's the fuel pump getting warmed up and then deciding to not work, especially if it runs perfectly fine otherwise, evap leaks are smog control related only, highly unlikely it would cause a starting issue of any kind. you could rip out the entire fuel evap system and the truck would run fine you would just have a check engine light. 2nd guess would be a ground problem but a fuel pressure test would lead you in right direction.
