Bilstein B6 4600 Monotube Gas OEM Shocks Set for 2007-2014 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD RW kit

they don't come with new springs or housing. what would you suggest and where to get them would be a great help?

thanks

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

How many miles on your truck? If over 100k miles, I'd recommend replacing the springs, while you have the struts disassembled. Same thoughts for the rear springs, and they are really easy to replace.

Thanks for the warm welcome. im sure ill be here a lot lol. ive built two original broncos and one f150, not familiar with the chevy so much, but ive started putting this parts list together attached. lmk what you think.

Tahoe has 120k mi. my intentions is to replace as much as i can while i'm under there. this is what i have so far on the list, if theres anything else you suggest i would appreciate a little guidance from the Tahoe experts.

thanks in advance!

Shock mounts? New nut is SOP, 11561435. I'm going to attach the complete list used for mine, which is similar but not all parts are exact.

I’d probably go OEM myself if you’re looking for a smooth ride. I used to be a big fan of Bilstein, and still like them for certain applications. But I finally found in my research they like to do digressive valving, which gives a firmer on road ride. But makes small road imperfections felt more.

I don’t know for a fact that their shocks for this platform are digressive, but I’d research that before putting money down.

Depends on your tastes, too. My understanding is digressive is good for sporty handling; progressive is better for smooth ride over rough roads.

@swathdiver gave you an excellent list to review. You may decide to do less, depending on your budget, but I would still replace the shock top mounts, as they contain bearings which carry the entire front of the truck load, and move when steering.

@swathdiver @Joseph Garcia Thank you for all the advice, much appreciated. what about these quick struts from Monroe?

Not trying to save money just curious if they're a good "OEM" equivalent replacement strut assembly or not. I spend 90% of my time on road. So i'm reconsidering my initial approach based on the advice from @Bill 1960 .

thanks

IMO, they are not OEM equivalent. But, that does not necessarily mean that they are bad shocks. Monroe has been making shocks for a long time, and they are still around.

My SSV came to me with Monroe struts, apparently they were good enough for government work (install by CBP).

I found the highway ride with stock tires and suspension unremarkable, seemed stock. Nothing to brag about nor complain about.

Due to all the supply problems last year I couldn’t get the struts I wanted so I ran the Monroes all year ~10k miles of severe service on trails with a big lift and 35” tires. I sort of expected them to fade and suffer some significant degradation, but so far they seem unaffected and the truck still rides and handles well.
