I haven't been very active here, or rather I haven't posted much. I search things from time to time, but am usually in a hurry, so don't get to stay long. I went to post in to "WTB" section of the classifieds, and saw that there is a minimum post rule, so I want to respect that. Guess that means i need to get more active so I can start asking for parts. In the meantime, What CAI is your favorite? What do you recommend? Have any of you tried more than one in order to substantiate one over another? My other car is a 1996 Mustang, and in that world, most CAIs are about the same, and there isn't much sense in spending 150-200 bucks on one if 50-100 bucks get you the same results. Do you believe that holds true for our type of rigs? Thanks for all of your input, and hope you each have a great day.

Get an Airaid intake tube and filter, the intake tube is the most restrictive part on the factory setup

^this. You can find the Airaid Jr. Kit. It comes with the tube, and a drop in filter. Oiled or dry.

I didnt feel much like spending ~$150 on an intake tube, so I bought a cheap CAI kit, and hooked it up to the stock box, same idea, easy peasy.

CAI are a loss on this truck because the stock setup is a true CAI, the aftermarket stuff is actually worse.

iv seen some people build some cheap intakes with pvc pipe and utilizing their stock box and throw in a fiber filter like spectra or K&N. Some people have only been out $$ for the filter and had all the materials and tools on hand already. One guy here even did a forced induction type box with his stock filter box.

edit: also performance wise you wont notice any real difference at all with just a CAI for any brand or home made. The idea behind CAI is cooler air adds more HP In reality you want cooler air for more HP. Unless you have super chargers and 400+ hp going through your engine CAI are all for show

But does the exhaust tone change? This happened on my mustang, and I'm curious if it will happen with my Denali.
