...and Happy Thanksgiving!

I am very new to Chevy/GM trucks and SUV's. My brother had an '03 Silverado 5.3 4x4 with 154,000 miles on it that I rescued from his yard earlier this year. I had to rebuild all 4 brakes on it, new plugs/wires/ egr solenoid/canister, shocks- then it drove like a new truck. It wasn't practical for me to keep, so I sold it to use the money to put into a Jeep Cherokee I had also been working on.

So the Cherokee went belly up. Shopping for a new, used car, I'm looking for a full size SUV. I stumbled on a friend selling an '05 Yukon 5.3, 4x4 SLT. 3 rows of seats and overhead dvd (you know, the important stuff!)
It has 127,000 miles on it. I drove it; drove fine with 2 issues:
'service airbag' is on the display, and the engine temp gauge doesn't move up.

I'll read along here for those issues- other than that 4hi/low worked, he had replaced plugs and 2 coil packs earlier and put new tires on it.

I'm going to try to find a lift to get it up on so I can get under it and check it out. It has a hitch on the back- how can I tell if it is factory tow package? I can usually spot an aftermarket setup, but I couldn't tell on this GMC.

Thanks! Ron

Thanks!

ok, so research shows the airbag message is probably going to be one or both of the sensors up front...

well it's in my garage...the thing is filthy; got a couple scratches that will need the old buffer wheel, need to order an owner's manual for it, and look for a service manual...
I did find out that the hitch is oem, but still not sure if it's the full-on tow package, or just the hitch added on after the fact...

IIRC the factory towing package would have a tow haul button on the shifter. Why exactly are you needing to know if it has a towing package? Another way to find out is to look up the RPO for the towing package and check yours for that RPO.
