I hate when I was doing tests and the Tech2 would reboot. Good tip on the ac pwr.

I had the candi module plugged into the obd and the light didn't come on.
What kind of self tests can I do? I didn't know about that.

If memory serves, when you put external power to the VCI module, it cut off the power to the CanDi. If you were going to power the Tech-2 from an external source while connected to a vehicle, you would use the power port in the CanDi cable, not at the base of the unit (VCI). This is where I plug mine in while connected to the computer when programming modules and at the table while doing diagnostics unless otherwise directed by the instructions.

Yeah my candi module doesn’t have a power port either. I can have the candi plugged in with the ac adapter connected to the main Tech2.

I believe he is talking about the power port on the DLC cable.

I don't have my hands on one yet but from the reading I have done there should be a way to plug in external power at the DLC adapter.

It also says this in the manual...

So for vehicle communication you should actually have it plugged into the DLC cable and NOT the Tech 2 power port, to ensure a proper ground.

Well I’ll be damned. I didn’t even know I could plug it in there which is cool since the dc input on my Tech2 is kind of wonky. Guess I didn’t read that part of the directions.

I have been trying to read up on it before it arrives so I am not going into it blind... lol
